Big E's first four years with the Rockets were fire. His stats took a dip with the Bullets, but he was on a better team and did not have carry the entire load.

It might be apocryphal but ... Bill Russell took Big E aside in his rookie year and told him to not show up Wilt again or he would regret it.

ETA: when I clicked this thread I thought I would see a 2010-ish date of the first thread. Long overdue.

I just love this so much. Big E is an all-time great player, and part of some great moments in basketball history. Well-deserved.

This looks like the old sign outside The Summit I think this was taken when he was traded back to Houston in 1981

I'm surprised Les didn't try and take the jersey's from the rafters too.

Even though his greatest years came with the Bullets, this was a no brainer decision, and it should have been done a long time ago.

Was watching old 80s Rockets game an they were interviewing Elvin and he was hating on Hakeem pretty hard and showing Ewing a ton of love. It was just one interview I saw but I found that interesting...

It is said that religion changes a person. Look no further than our Dream. Before he found his faith he was an ass. After one of the most beautiful people in the world, true role/life model. I am sure the interview was before and E is wants to stay positive so he simply talks about another person.

Don't forget how proud his brother Chris Hayes must be too.

And of course, his father Rutherford B. Hayes, god rest him, has to be looking down on him with a shitgrin smile.

The Big E! Eat em Up! My Mom was at that game. Aways a GREAT player wherever he was, Elvin's place in Houston's history has been cemented for years. He's part of the fabric.

And not to forget, led the league in scoring his rookie season with 28ppg and 17 rebounds. If somebody did that these days they'd be labelled the next biggest thing.
