Lol. I hope you are right. I just can't see the league awarding this Rockets team a W. We should find out pretty soon.
While yes blaming the refs suck but in this 1 in a million case where the refs took away a very well deserved 2 points, we have every right to scream from the mountaintops. Missed foul calls, missed calls when the ball goes out of bounds, etc. don't affect the game as much as a sure 2 points. I wholeheartedly agree the Rockets complain too much (as does most of the league) but in this case it is 100% warranted and every team in the league would be crying if they got points taken away let alone 2. When was the last time you saw a team robbed of 2 points let alone 1 point in this league? As mentioned, they review a 3 pointer if a player's damn big toe is even remotely close to the line so they always get that call right. This case should not be any different.
Yes to the bolded. Complain all you want. But asking the league to change the result is weak. Blown calls happen all the time. What next, will we have them go change the result vs the Mavs when Finley stepped out of bounds?
howbout being awarded 2 points for a legitimately scoring a basket. that's the main principle of basketball. put the ball inside the hoop, you are awarded 2 points. and who ever has the most points wins. just like some threes are converted to two's or vice versa after review. this was supposed to have been reviewed during the game.
We blew a 22 point lead...end of story. NBA aint reversing anything. Imagine the **** show with vegas, daily fantasy leagues etc. payouts if the NBA decided to award the Rockets the 2 points and the win ending the game in regulation. Won't be a pretty site with all the adjustments negating the 2 extra periods.
1 example would be no different than, when the refs take away 2 pts on a putback that they thought was in the cylinder. when upon review it wasn't
hey yall aready forgot about stealing player of the week and player of the month award? how about of the game 7 wcf? how about game 1 of the semis? gotta love it
Man who cares, complain or trying to fix a really bad call is not going to change the problems we have to fix with this team. Blowing leads is common and need to figure something about Westbrook. Its still Harden or bust which is a damn shame.
They won't give us a win because it changes how the end of game is played, so that notion is plain silly. So much depends on what the NBA wants to do about their Coaches Challenge system. Do they want to admit that it is broken and let us replay or do they want to keep their head in the sand about it? And it is beyond stupid they can look at 3 pointers during TV timeouts, but not goal tending and made basket questions until under 2 minutes...
I wouldn't argue that. We have some issues that definitely need to be addressed. However, that has nothing to do with an incredible made basket being disallowed for multiple reasons made up by the head referee, with no review, when clearly one should have been made. That doesn't even get into MDA challenging the call and the ref both ignoring his challenge and then lying about it afterwards. The league has to act. The cumulative effect of egregious calls or non-calls by the referees during games is to weaken the trust fans have in the ability of the league to produce an honest product. NBA basketball. If there is a decline in ratings, I can't help but think that at least part of the reason is the disgust fans feel when the refs consistently decide games by what appears to be bias on their part, particularly in the playoffs. By the way, I read a fascinating history of television and the NBA this morning. When it began, how it changed over time, the impact of expansion, things done to address a decline in ratings, etc. Interesting just how many changes to the game were made purely from a ratings standpoint. Just a ton of information in over 100 pages. It's in PDF form. The title is The NBA on Network Television: A Historical Analysis. It goes far beyond that, however. Well worth the read, in my opinion, and fortunately I'm a fast reader. The author is Mario Sarmento. It's his thesis for his Master of Arts in Communications at the University of Florida in 1998.
Ehh MDA said the Rockets stopped playing defense and decreased effort with 6-7 minutes left in the game. It didn’t sound like he was making excuses. Westbrook basically said “**** happens”.... I suppose Morey is making excuses? Has he made statements? They have to appeal the game. Also make no mistake MDA and Morey know there are problems with this team. The Westbrook trade was ownership driven. The trade of Anderson was ownership driven. The front office wanted to take back more salary in the Westbrook trade and ownership said no. The personnel doesn’t fit. Essentially Morey will have to hope Westbrook plays better, that he can pull a couple rabbits out of his hat at the deadline or get someone to over pay for Capela.
perhaps he was referring to 10k dollars complaining fee Tilman wont be willing to risk cause its only given back if the complaint is accepted?
Your post is the main reason to protest, they have to fix that garbage that happened last night so it never happens again, the fact that the explanation afterward by the head ref actually made it appear they had no clue what they called, nor what they were doing in terms of effectively informing Dantoni of his options, makes it all the more glaring !!! I’d be truly shocked if they allow us to replay the last 7:50, just don’t see them setting that precedent, but they MUST fix this so it can never happen to another team like this again it’s total BS how that was handled in game and afterward !!!
