Rockets to meet with Bruce Brown (UPDATE: Signs with Pacers - 2 years, $45M)

I wanted Brown during the offseason. He is a good, switchable defensive player and he has a versatile offensive game. Kind of a better version of Jae'Sean Tate in a lot of ways.

That said, I don't know if he would be high on my list right now. He isn't a great floor spacer, just a serviceable one. We already have Amen and Cam and they do need minutes to develop their respective games. I moreso wish for a backup big man, or a starting shooting guard who is an upgrade over Jalen.

 

Bruce Brown is a stellar player. Super smart, super tough, can handle the ball. Mediocre shooter. I would like to see him in the team as a bench piece but our bench really lacks efficient shooters. Not sure if a Bruce Brown type player is really what our rotation currently needs.

He is also one of the best trade assets in the league. If that's the intention, maybe it could work.

I'd be fine with Bruce purely because he played well with jokic and understands how to cut and get easy buckets.

 

I wanted him this offseason too, and thought his contract was reasonable given that it’s basically a one year deal with a team option. He’s having a down shooting year but he shot 36% and 40% from 3 the previous two seasons. He’s a winning player who slot in well at the SG position. Another hard-nosed player who does a lot of things on the court, including playing defense. And he’s just hitting his prime.

If we don’t have to give up too much I’d love Bruce Brown.

He was the matching salary for Siakim so the Raps could get 3 FRPs. Who knows what their intentions are with Brown? They may be open to trading him for a couple of 2nds?

Brown is similar to Tate but at three times the salary. I appreciate his championship experience and like him as a player, but it's weird that people are excited at this possibility when so many are saying we need to dump Tate to give playing time to Tari and Cam. Brown would get more playing time than Tate.

I would say browns defense is better. He's a solid defender and cuts very well of ball. I think he woukd be a very good bench player.

I don't think we should care about salary right now. Besides his contract has a TO for next year.

Edit: looks like trade is done, not sure if it could still be expanding tho.
