Only way to offer him more money is by trading Ariza, Gordon or Anderson. I wouldn't be okay with trading Ariza or Gordon to offer him more money, and Anderson's contract will cost a first to move and is the only shot we have at Melo or Milsap... paying to move that for Iggy over one of them would also be idiotic. I just seriously don't get any of it. Starting job for Iggy at this point in his career is a ridiculous thing to leave a championship team offering more money, I just can't buy that. The guy has been a huge contributor even off the bench. I think it's between GSW and another team like Lakers/Kings or whoever can offer him 20 mill.
I've actually been wondering this myself. Right now they're essentially sitting right at the soft cap at around $99 million. If they found a taker for Anderson's contract to get it off the books entirely, could they somehow turn around and offer the bulk of that money to Iggy? I don't know the CBA or salary cap well enough, but that logic makes sense to me in theory.
They most certainly do with 60 million in cap space. I bet they are offering at least 2 years 40 million.
Sacramento for the high salary. Houston and San Antonio for contender status. Extra leverage for Iggy against gsw.
I think we are only in it if we offered him a chance to start and gave him some sort of out after the 2nd year to get a bigger contract.
