Iggy likely using Rockets, Spurs and other teams as leverage. No problem with that. It's not like it costs a portion of the MLE just to take a meeting.

Gordon would not make sense to me because he's a much better player at this point in his career than Igudala. I do think Igudala is an upgrade over Ariza, but not a huge one, and given Ariza's longstanding relationship with CP (and the Rockets org at this point), and value contract, it doesn't make much sense.

Now, if it coming at the expense of Anderson, then i say, let's load up. Having Ariza and Igudala makes us very strong defensively. We need another strong defender with a little length. I love the idea of rotating Ariza and Igudala at the 3 spot, and rotating Harden Gordon and Paul between the 1 & 2 spots. That's a strong defensive (and offensive) rotation.

But at the end of teh day, this is probably about Igudala using the rockets to make sure he gets his money from GS.

Same true in Golden State. Unless said player has a Golden chip on his shoulder :)

Probably a respect thing. Athletes have inflated sense of pride in general, will rarely take a pay cut to win, but will always take a pay cut to punish what they perceive as disrespect. He's helped the Warriors win 2, and he was Finals MVP before, and now Durant takes his shine and he barely gets mentioned as a contributor and then news about them not willing to spend what he's worth even though the cost is only LT (since Durant agreed to wait for moves).

I also don't actually believe Durant wants to take a pay cut. It's a PR move to avoid making Durant the villain, and I think Iggy knows it.

TPE worth 11M...but how would we get him with unguaranteed contracts?

    Pretty much this.

Plus you go to a team that has a punchers chance at beating the team that disrespected you. Plus players tend to have a lot of confidence (that's why they are in the NBA afterall) and Iggy probably thinks he can help the Rockets beat the Warriors.

Anyways, I'd take him. It certainly would keep us as the deepest team in the NBA.

Iggy would be a good move if it happened...exactly the type of player we need against GS

Makes perfect sense. Weakening the warriors is juat as important as improving the rockets.

We want to make the finals this year

We do need someone to lock down Durant while Ariza chases Thompson.

Leaves Chris Paul to contain Curry and put Harden on Draymond.

    I like the matchups.

I wonder if they told him he'd be a starter if he came here.

Landing ig would make me feel a lot better about the team either way.

This is worth it even if andre sucks for us. To make the finals we need to beat the dubs.

Weakening the dubs is huge for us

Good thought. GSW can't offer him a starting role. We can. You go with:

    Paul
    Harden
    Ariza
    Iggy
    Capela

Find a way to sign Redick and Nene to go along with Gordon and Anderson. That's a solid 9 man rotation. Or it's possible Wade and Melo get bought out. A lot of possibilities still.

He just tryna make warriors give him more money. If he wanted to sign with us he would already have done so. #Leverage

The meeting ended like an hour ago. He has to huddle up and talk to the Warriors again.

Why would he suck? Could give us 25 great minutes a night. His 3pt shot is looking better than ever, he averaged 3.4 assists to just 0.8 TO's and even as he slows down will remain a good defender. Between him and Ariza, we would be able to be patient about upgrading the 3 spot.

It would be foolish to think this is anything but a "leverage" move on his part.

But hey, we also thought CP3 was going to use this team as leverage as well. So you never really know.

I would be completely shocked if he signed, though.
