Went from hoping for some sort of melo and Paul George super team to meeting with Amir Johnson and iggy.
Harden may have some stiff competition: https://www.buzzfeed.com/ktlincoln/...rs-and-booty?utm_term=.erA6wapYaa#.pg3WVPkoPP He's a 69 Battier
At this point, id say amir is more splish than splash. He is a backup 4, but, with D'Antoni, he'd be the 5, and we have the Capela and Nene already. However, Nene did get injured, so, more is better. He is still quite serviceable.
What is he good at? I dont think he can play at PF in our style of basketball. We already have 2 Cs, unless we shipping out Clint. So....advise what's the good part of signing him?
I thought about him as an MLE target for awhile and I think he's a nice backup 4/5. Don't forget that we lost Montrezl too in the CP3 deal. WE NEED A 3RD BIG. and no... Hollic Uthoff isn't that 3rd big as much as you might fantasize about it. I think we have a need for a solid vet who can do a little of everything and have some versatility to play both spots, and seeing how we needed one last year with Nene having nights off, its a must to get a guy like Amir. I'd much rather have PJ Tucker with the MLE, but he could be a bit expensive if Toronto now sees a MASSIVE hole in the East where they can bring everyone back and make a run at Cleveland. I'd like to have Amir if we can't do better, but I'd like a split of the MLE in this case where he gets about half, and we get another solid role player out of the other half. (also I think we need some MLE room for Qi and GMo)
