JVG Offense will equal Harden throwing down the middle to PJ, and PJ chucking and jiving to to shake his man for the most difficult 2 points our team will have to earn.

    This just sounds so bad........

I hope Morey has an offensive guru to be Associate Head Coach to pair if JVG is picked

You really think JVG would put a Rockets team on the floor with 6'5 center?
Plus he is going to add his brother as associate coach :)

I'll be on board with JVG only if Houston pays a premium to also bring in Chris Finch as associate head coach.

I’m glad there’s a consensus with Chris Finch now. JVG would be fine. Not my favorite option but whatever.

I really like finch or cassell as AHC if we hire Atkinson or JVG.

I'm not sure what defensive coaches are available if we hire Lue or Silas.

JVG should be our best option.

people complaining about our offense with him need to remember our personnel at the time. Houston wasn’t going to be 5-out with Yao. The game has changed, and nobody knows that better than JVG.

Yao could shoot, I’d imagine him like a Jokic or Gasol type nowadays.
Anyway- JVG def isn’t giving up ESPN cushy TV gigs for that. To what, argue with the guy who hired him and his best player? I think the whole allure would be “Ive got a new bag of tricks to try” and trying to win a championship in the 2020’s not the 1990’s.

I disagree. JVG had Yao beat up all game, even though the post up game was his greatest strength. When Rick Adelman came to Houston, he brought Yao out to give him a few other options besides banging inside all game long. JVG never adjusted this.

    YES!

As others have said, bring in a strong offensive assistant....a guy that players can also whine to.

I give JVG kudos for somehow becoming a Houstonian. He decided to live here, for whatever reasons. I know his daughter's attachment to whatever school she attended here had a lot to do with the decision, but that's since passed (i.e., she isn't a little kid now at the same school). He's on the board of directors for the Pro-Vision Academy. So he made his ties here.

As a coach? I honestly don't know. Will his coaching style have changed with the game? How many years and how much money does he want? Are Harden and Westbrick on board or would they lean Lue?

Regardless of what he's doing himself in USA Basketball, I still think he needs a high level offensive guru at his side in order to be successful. His extended absence at the NBA level drawing up plays and in game adjustments is going to affect him, even though he sat courtside for the past 13 years

I'm all for JVG if there's an offensive mind beside him

Clipps have the better defensive potential, Houston is home to him.

JVG is an absolute quality person, one hell of a father, and as good of a dude as you'll find. I love the guy. I also think he is an outstanding coach. Having said that, if we go with him, I think we will need a roster overhaul, and I don't know how we do that under the current circumstances. No matter how I try to spin it in my head, I just cannot see him coexisting with this current group of players. I don't think it would be good for his health either. I also don't know why he would even want to do it. He's an exceptional announcer. I know he loves Houston for whatever reason, but none of this makes any sense to me at all.
