Rockets to Honor 93-94 Team on April 6 with Retro Jerseys

finally i have a reason to watch a rockets game again! i hope we dont lose that particular game, like sacrmento did today. i swear, them royals jersey's must have jinxed the sacromenrto kings.

 

I hope after this year our retro jersey's don't become the current digs

I like the idea of retro floors, classic.

 

I am definitely going to see this game. We can't lose with those things on cause we'll all be happy. April 6th at Aussies in Austin! Woohoo!

I think it's great that the NBA is going Retro in some games, it's kinda fun to see how Francis and Yao would look in them old jerseys.

Those Retro Astro jerseys are popular here in LA too, seen a few people in my N'hood wear them, looks cool. Infact I seen more of those then the dodgers lately. Also I went to Las Vegas two months ago and I seen a few people wear them there also.

Lately when I go to the malls around LA I'm starting to see alot of Rocket signs in the foot lockers and champ stores. The mall closest to me has a huge Francis poster(bigger than any other there) in the window with him dunking with this back showing and two jerseys with Francis and Ming hanging next to it. The Yao jerseys are popular with guys here at the b-ball courts but thats probably because the area I live in is pratically 70% chinese and vietnamese and LA-OC has over 1,600,000 asians.

I'm waiting till next year to sport the new ones for next season atleast now I know theres more of us Rocket Fans in LA now, it's getting alittle crazy in LA since Yao became a Rocket though, now everyone here just says Yao this and Yao that. I would say before the Yao, in my area I was the only rocket fan I knew and outside a few that show up to summer games, but now in my area there's like 1 in 10 people are Rocket fans. When I use to talk about the Rockets last year to many regular Laker fans they didn't even know who Francis was except he was a guard, now when I bring up the Rockets to the Laker fans they tell me about Francis and Yao and how good they are, just wild. After Kobe and Shaq, Yao is probably the most talked about guy here in my area. Now I laugh when they bring up wild trade ideas on getting Yao to the Lakers, many of them want Yao bad, they are envious.

 

yea the astros retro stuff is real popular.

i am dying to see steve francis and yao in an old rockets jersey. those were the greatest

 

Having bought many jerseys over the years, I think this has more to do with Home jerseys costing twice as much as Road jerseys. I really have no preference though as to what the Rockets wear that day.

 

I hope Clutch gets in on the act too!!

 

Rockets should wear the Red & Yellow for the remainder of the home season. Maybe it will have a positive effect on their mental toughness and it would be a nice little tribute for the last season in the Compaq Center.

 

White isn't a uni requirement. Teams can have two contrasting colors (ala the Lakers). Seems easy enough...

Besides, in the 'old' days only road games were likely to be televised and fans associated road unis with what they actually saw...

Keep up the good work -- lots more of kids on ladders, just change sign card from ROM to ASG!

 

Heh. Actually, white is currently a requirement -- I was just up at the league offices in New York yesterday discussing that very point.

As for Kim's earlier point about home and away jerseys having different prices -- they really shouldn't, to be honest. The league has always offered several different grades of jersey for retail, from full authentics down to more affordable replicas, and they differ in price -- home and away shouldn't be different prices, though. At least they aren't from our standpoint, although I can't say that different retailers might not have switched up the margins for their own reasons.
