Rockets could be considering trying to go the current Denver team route and just have a really really deep team down to 12 players and run people off the court. If they don't get Dwight or CP3, they will probably only offer the second tier all stars less than max money so that they can build each position two deep strong. So I could see them going after Smith or Milsap if they can get them to join the team for less than max and they have room to add a strong back up Center and Shooting guard. Morey probably wants next season: Lin/Brooks Harden/big upgrade Parsons/Delfino Smith or Milsap/DMo Asik/big upgrade and even some nice bench warmers in case of injury like Beverly, Garcia and another productive Big for insurance. If those upgrades at the SG and C are significant after getting Smith or Milsap, our second unit could run most other second units off the floor. Our starting lineup with Smith will be even better than this year's, so with a year under their belt minus Smith, you should expect them to be better than this year. I think that would put our team in the top 4 in the WC. Of course we are trying to be Championship contenders, but that second unit could make the difference.
1) Rockets wanted to play Dmo & wanted the contract space for next year. Morris got traded for less because they were giving a contract away for nothing. Just like any other sport you can either take back money or take back less assets, we took back less assets. 2) TRob has more value than 2Pat even today with Pat putting up better numbers. #5 pick in a recent draft gives potential, which you can flip. 3) Twill was a bad move we all agree. 4) Morey's good flips far outweigh his mistakes, and no GM has a perfect record.
D Mo or Smith/Millsap cause I can't see a good coexistence I could see Millsap with t rob being the backup but what about d Mo back to no playing time or back up role then what about t rob
If OP is right, Smith or Milsap can help facilitate/sweeten a trade for a Love/LMA/DH. As is, we only have Lin/Asik as centerpiece to match salary
Doc Rocket threads rated five stars when they are full of gibberish that no one can interpret right. When someone brings exact details and names, he's getting flamed. Wtf.
cyberx, I don't mean to question your credibility because everything you've said so far sounds pretty legit. I do wonder why they're intent on going after Paul Milsap and Josh Smith rather than keeping the cap room for a star another summer assuming Dwight resigns with LA. Daryl seems to preach wanting to get Houston back to CHAMPIONSHIP status and not 2nd round status, which is what getting Smith or Milsap would make us. Are we really any better than the Spurs, Clippers, Thunder and Grizzlies with Josh Smith? I'm neutral to a Smith signing but it just seems to contradict what we've heard so far this year.
It goes like this: Sign Millsap now. Team improves. One or two years from now, offer Millsap and Tjones (whomever) for Love. It's got Morey written all over it.
This one's a gem. I've always felt Sampson was the real brains behind this operation and the one coach on this staff we couldn't afford to lose.
"Parsons is about to get paid" are you saying they are going to extend his contract early, before his value inflates even further?
The new CBA has a new rule that says you can't sign & trade for Bird Rights. Howard cannot get a Bird Rights full contract with anyone but the Lakers. No one can pay Howard more in a S&T than they can in a straight signing. So no, that won't happen.
Yeah he is about to paid. For no reason, yeah let's pay a dude that average 12 ppg and 6 rbg a **** ton of money!!!! No thank you.
Hey Cyber, any idea as to what Dwight is thinking about for this summer?? Can we pretty much just assume he's going to re-sign with the Lakers??
Parsons will not extend his contract. The max he would be allowed is 107.5% of the previous years salary. So 1 million . He would be losing millions if he did an extension. Parsons will not be getting paid anytime soon. Either cybrex misheard or the executive just doesn't know what he is talking about (not likely).
