I agree 100%. I'm glad that most of the guys on the Rockets aren't divas.

he's going to do great. his game is starter material already. scola just hasn't slipped for landry to crack the starting lineup.

also, he's on my fantasy team so let's DOMINATE mandry.

If Scola misses a few games, and Landry plays really well, I think he Carl may take Chuck's starting job. Similar situation to a couple years ago when Scola replaced Hayes.

Great to see Landry in the starting role. Could this also be a chance for the Rockets to take a look at Landry as a starter in case Scola's name comes up in a trade scenario? Morey traded Rafer last year at the dead line so he is certainly willing to trade veterans. I would think Scola has a lot more value than Rafer and paired with TMac might draw something significant in a trade.

I hope no one takes that comment as a negative on Scola because I am a big fan of his but I am also a big fan of improving the Rockets and if Landry can prove he is ready to start...

I hope Landry continues to start. He's got trade bait written all over him.

His talents are in the right places to get national attention if he starts. He could realistically average 20/8 which is Amare Stoudemire type numbers.

This fact is a huge part of the reason why this is one of my fave all-time rox teams to follow so far.

I hate egotistical, showy players, even if they're good. See: entire Celtics squad.

If Landry develops into a good defender, then there is no reason why we shouldn't start both Scola and him. Hayes would still be valuable coming off the bench as a defensive specialist.

    Which one would play center?

Hayes gets starter duty at center because he is better post defender than either and I think having both Landry and Scola out there starting might handicap our early defense while also gettting either Scola or Landry into early fall trouble.

Scola would defend opposing centers, though Landry will jump center.

[Rockets.com/Jason Friedman] Landry rising to elite status

    Here's the article from Friedman:

    http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/rockets_landry_rising_ranks_t_2009_12_01.html

Interesting how much the coaches glow about the guy-- like they believe him to be a future All Star. Funny thing, not only was Landry a 2nd round pick people thought he was picked way too early even in the 2nd round. I recall reading people talking about how Morey spent his picks (late 1st rounder on Brooks, 32nd on Landry) on guys who should be mid to late 2nd rounders (or something like that).

So, who is wishing for Big Baby or Josh McRoberts now?

Scola is a decent post defender, although he is nowhere as good as Hayes, especially against quicker big men. Yes, defense will be a problem against teams like the Lakers. But there aren't that many good offensive centers in the league.

All this, again, is predicated on Landry being able to hold his own at PF on defense. Right now I am not so sure yet. We'll have a better look the next few games with him starting.

I wouldn't mind having a healthy Big Baby at center right now.

I can't believe anyone EVER wished for McRoberts. He's total garbage. I saw him with the Idaho Stampede when they played in the D-League finals against the Toros, and Austin's Ian Mahinmi (now with the Spurs) completely dominated him. McRoberts couldn't do anything.

I'm excited for Landry. He's a super nice guy, always bouncing around, and is showing great potential. I'll be rooting for him for a long time, even if he switches teams (unless it's to the Lakers).

Can't wait to see what numbers he can put up with starter minutes.

i like landry starting. and the clippers have a big frontline so we"re going to see if he really has what it takes to rebound and defend at a high level with starters minutes.. his offense has really come a long way and the more and more he sees the ball the more he produces.. for this season though i would like to keep him coming off of the bench because he plays well with lowry. but i seriously think coach adelman should consider starting him next year.

i kno this is off topic but does anyone have footage of mcgradys warmups before games?? because from what ive been reading from feigen and justice he just sits around and chunk up shots..they say that there is no way to tell if he is ready but for some reason i dont believe them so if anyone can post some footage i would appreciate it!! :)
