True about Jeffries, BUT now Morey will have his and Battier's expiring contracts to play with next year!

I'm going to add to that... (Sorry for a Nooby Question) But if they are protected as they say they are..

Does that mean we don't get any picks at all if they do fall within the parameters? For instance 2011 supposedly is protected at the 1.. But what if the Knicks get the 1, does that mean we lose a pick or is it carried over to the next year?

The protection on those picks is worth it. Morey completely won this battle.

ESPN shows Armstrong to Houston. It works out under the salary cap. No mention of Thomas

Morey played the Knicks hard. Took Walsh to school, big time.

I don't think K9 Thomas is in. Stein is reporting Hilton Armstrong is in. So it is:

    Houston:
    Martin
    Hill
    Jeffries
    Armstrong
2011 pick swap + 2012 pick from NY

    Sacramento:
    Hughes
    Landry
    Dorsey

    NY:
    McGrady
    Rodriguez

My quick look at the numbers also says we get a trade exceptions out of this for Dorsey and Landry's salaries.

Holy Hell I've had a hard time getting on the site. This deal is genius to say the least. Anyone ever doubt Morey again has no idea what they are talking about. WOW!

Knicks gave up A LOT for extra $9.5 mil in space. Hill, a Top 1 protected in 2011 and Top 5 protected in 2012. They better get 'Bron

Wrong. What it all boils down to is Morey agreed to take on Jeffries and his $7 Million in order to have the right to swap draft picks in 2011 and a pick in 2012. As has already been discussed, the 2012 pick will be useless as The Knicks will have Lebron James or a comparable talent and will be a playoff team. That pick will be late first round.

If Martin doesn't pan out or if The Rockets just keep playing like they have been, they could easily have a higher pick than New York this year, which also makes swapping picks pretty much useless. And the fact that they gave up that right and only "top-1" protected it pretty much spells out that they aren't going to tank for the rest of the year.

It's still a pretty big gamble for taking on Jeffries. That $7 Million could come back to haunt The Rockets next year during free agency if they don't get a top draft pick. The Knicks took the least amount of risk. They wanted to clear cap space. They haven't had much success in the draft in many years outside of David Lee anyway. They can rebuild their team in Lebron James' image, which makes it a desirable landing spot for him.

The Landry/Martin deal looked a lot better by itself.

I don't think we're gettin Kenny Thomas, doesn't add up since we're taking Jefferies now.

Damn.....it sucks that Landry had to be traded.

    For me.....he epimotized this team.

Like alot of our players landry has always been too "something". But he blossomed and look what he is now.

Yea I know its a business....but man to trade something so consistent for Kevin martin....that sucks. :(

dude, Lebron will likely NOT be a Knick. The 2012 pick is gold.

okay on ESPN.com report, it said that according to Chad Ford the Knicks pick is top 1 protected in 2011 and top 5 protected in 2012, what does that mean?
