Am I the only one to think that this could be T-mac part 2? Kevin Martin is injury prone and were taking back a salary as well. Were better off doing the Iggy and dalembert trade.

    OT, but

    RicBucher

This is ESPN Rumor Central fodder for now but too tantalizing not to mention: 11th-hour talks are on that would send Boozer to Miami.

I'd say Amar'e is staying in PHX.

Jefferies' contract (when added with Martin) would cut off our ability to bring back Scola and/or Lowry in the offseason, and might cut off the MLE.

We better get a lot more than Hill for Jefferies.

That's why the Kings are asking for so much. Just like we did.

The Knicks are up against it. They said no to us, we make our deal, and now the Knicks may be left without a seat when the music stops.

Why would Miami do this? Can they still sign a Max by doing this? If not...then goodbye Wade, he's not staying for frackken Boozer.

We can still sign Scola and Lowry but we'll be in the tax. Bima said it would be worth it to "No socks" Les though.

bucher hasn't been right about a single damn thing in this entire trade talk so i wouldn't look much into it.

just say it is, beasley has to be involved. if miami didn't want to give up beasley for amare, why would they do it for boozer?

and tellem is the main guy driving all this damn tmac to NY talk.

That's the way it should be. Nobody should have to pay for Jeffries albatross of a contract without goods attached.

No, it won't. Scola, Lowry and the MLE have ALWAYS been available to the Rockets. Nothing will change that.

The impediment to accomplishing all of the above has been Les Alexander's reluctance to pay luxury tax unless the Rockets are serious contenders.

For Kevin Martin AND multiple lottery picks??? I think Les might pony up the cash.

If they do go over the LT it wouldn't be a huge amount over will it?

All depends on what offers Scola and Lowry get from other teams this summer.

My guess is that you're talking about $4-5M in tax, minimum. Who knows?

Funny. Can I say Morey setting up the Knicks into an embarrassing situation? Kings could simply buyout Tmac. Knicks will fail to trade Jefferies and also miss a big contract to clear salary cap. I hope Knicks are happy to keep their future picks.

What albatross of a contract? He's got 7 mil due for 1 more year. He's a pretty good defensive stopper and can play backup pf/sf. Plus his another expiring at next years trade deadline that might bring another player we want.

I wouldn't trade him for nothing but I like hill more than armstrong so it might be worth it. And jeffries will help out some with the loss of Landry.

This!! And is there a strong possibility that DM is not yet done? I have this nagging suspicion that something else might be cooking almost independent of the Hou/Sac/NY thing.

Knicks never had a chance. Morey had his eyes set on Kmart, and was playing the Bulls and Knicks to see if they were going to raise their offer. They both thought he was asking for too much...and that no one else really wanted Tmac...

Now the Bulls had numerous offers on the table...but the Knicks...oh man...it seems like they are really in a corner now.

How's will the defense be that much worse than what it is now? If anything you improve the defense of your second unit since either Shane or Trevor will be moved to the bench. Also, it actually helps the defensive side of the ball when you have a player who can score efficiently from outside, ala Martin. It's not like losing Landry is going to hurt our interior defense, because we didn't have any to begin with.

Sorry, I failed to say that my comment was based on the assumption that we don't go into Lux tax land (per the memorial thread) --

Jefferies will have to bring more than just Hill.

    Yep.

My only fear right now is that the "flexibility" of the existing two-team trade with Sacramento is in Geoff Petrie's hands and not Morey's.

In other words, what if Morey were to tell Petrie, "Okay, we know you have no plans for T-Mac, so we'd like to swap him out for Larry Hughes in a three-way deal with New York. We'd like to basically do our original trade with the Knicks, and you'll still get Carl Landry and perhaps some extra cash out of this. Bottom line, Geoff, you'll be better off than you would just trading with us."

Can Petrie basically hold T-Mac for ransom (as he's doing with the Knicks right now)? Or is Morey in a strong enough position that he won't lose Martin if he insists on controlling the "McGrady Expiring Contract Asset"?

(I guess it may just boil down to asking who wants what more? Do the Kings want Landry more than the Rockets want Martin? My guess is no.)

Hilarious. Isaiah Thomas still killing the Knicks' plans years after his departure.
