All night so far I've wished I could relate to the "I am Jack's complete lack of surprise" line from Fight Club. Unfortunately, I'm still in shock that the Rockets traded Carl. Oh well. Ultimately, I've gotta be a member of the hope crew for this one. That is, I hope the Rockets stand to benefit eventually from losing a "heart" player like him... for now, I feel only sadness and... emo crap. :(

and this is why we lost Landry. Morey is planning a move for 2010

we said no to added salary and they said "give us Landry".

    Wouldn't be surprised.

Brooks (Because Lowry is a better Point guard)
    &
Shane (Because he's past his prime)

I would not be surprised if these were one of the two traded next year.

Remember Morey's No.1 trade priority for T-Mac's expiring contract?

To acquire a No. 2 player on a championship team.

Clearly, Morey believes that Kevin Martin fits the bill. The three teams that were discussing T-Mac deals with us - NY is trying to blow us over with draft picks, Chicago peovides the best short-term help, and Sac-town can give us the best individual talent, which is Kevin Martin. The deal isnot so hard to understand if you look at it under the context of next season - clearly Morey believes that we can still ride Yao, at least for one season. If not, next summer is when we'll blow everything up. However, I am concerned with Martin's medical record, and not convinced at all that he's on the same level as, for instance, Joe Johnson.

Kenny Thomas for Jeffries and Hill works and they get TMac's ending and get rid of Thomas's contract getting them in positions to sign 2 big name players.

Anyone else not impressed by this supposed trade? I mean, kevin martin can score but he doesn't play defense and is injury prone. Bleh.

Martin's contract is pretty much Caron Butler's + 2 years. The 46 million figure they're quoting includes K-Mart's FULL salary from this year, roughly $9.7M. Take that out, and you're left with $10.6, $11.5 and $12.4 for the next 3 seasons after this one, which seems pretty reasonable if 2010 is an aberration.

The injuries are a legitimate concern, however.

This is what Im talking about. There has been no deal. They ahve an agreement in place that if they cant workout a 3way then they will move forward with the agreed trade. We own TMac. If NY wants him they have to oblige us and then we have to pay Sac for Martin. Sac wont be getting the deal we were offered.

We have Battier and Ariza for defense. Not many players in the NBA are great at both sides of the ball...Lebron James....Kobe Bryant...Dwade...Yao Ming...Garnett....Tim Duncan...

Those are guys who are good defenders and of course good scorers. Can't always get what you want. We have enough defense on this frackken team.

    Brooks/Lowry/Rodriguez
    Martin/Budinger
    Battier/Ariza
    Scola/(Lottery pick)
    Yao/Hayes/Andersen

I like Landry, but thats a pretty good lineup. Perimet scoring, perimeter defense, low post, post defense. Really only missing a shot blocker, but we could still be in play of T.Thomas or J.Hill. Not to mention we have a pretty decent pick in this draft.

Will we beat the Lakers? I dunno, but that is easily good enough for the WCF. I have a hunch that Morey isnt finished trading either. Before this trade I wondered if our tenure as an elite team was over, but I feel like we will be much better next year than we would of been with Landry.

This is a great trade, Rockets would be tough at end of games with 3 great FT shooters (Yao, Martin, Brooks).... only downside is health issues with Martin...

if yao is back to 100%, then yes, that team can beat the lakers. will they...that's a different story; but the talent and balance on the team looks really good. the team is basically how it was last year with ariza replacing artest and martin replacing a non-existent t-mac. more depth would be nice, but that lineup overall has a lot of potential.

Overlooking this season's Landry and the recent news on the future CBA. I think it might've been Bucher who said the full MLE could be what the next tier players after the max contract players get.

Rockets really need to get Casspi as Landry's replacement as the backup PF.

I think Landry should start on the Kings. Move hompson to C and Hawes to the the bench. In any case they're stacked in the frontcourt.

Thomspon, Landry, Brockman, Dorsey, Greene, Casspi, and Nocioni can all cover PF.

I really like K-Mart and felt for a long time, that he would be a great player to put on a team with Yao (great shooter, can create his own shots, pretty good from the 3pt line, potential all star). His injury problems are a bit alarming though, but I guess he fits right in here with them...

I hate to see Landry go though! He was such a great guy, and always brought a lot of energy of the bench, with a real reasonable contract. I´d had much rather included Scola, Shane or Ariza in that deal. But I guess T-Mac alone wasn`t enough for that.

What kinda contracts do the other scrubs have, that we had to take?
