    LANDRY SPEAKS

"I'm fine," Landry said in an an interview with FOX 26. "I'm upbeat.
"I'm excited about a new beginning with Sacramento. Houston has been great to me. I've build a lot of relationships here and I'm going to miss it.

"I look forward to playing with the Kings and bringing them some life."

    dorsey too

"I won't know everything until in the morning," said Dorsey in an interview with FOX 26 Sports. "I'm told both teams like me. So I'm looking forward to getting a chance to play.

Dorsey said he was not caught off guard by the trade.
"No, I'm not surprised," Dorsey said. "Mac (McGrady) told me I was going to be traded with him. I just didn't know Carl was going to be traded too."

    1) yes i do not know exactly what the offer was but "every" source has the same offer and the only problem was the protection of the picks. if the knicks wanted top 10 protection, it's still a great deal for us b/c we know how great morey is at drafting players.

    2) you're right on this part. it was just emotions talking b/c landry is one of my favorite players. in fact, i'm happy this happened for him b/c now he gets to start and play big minutes and possibly realize his potential.

    3) landry is a starter in this league. he was a back-up b/c we needed some explosiveness off the bench and he gladly accepted that role. i think a few ESPN people wanted him on the all-star team.

overall, martin does provide a need for us at SG, a glaring hole for us. this deal does cover that. but you have to see him THIS YEAR to know why landry shouldn't have to be included to get him. even before he got injured and he averaged 30 points, he shot 40% and the kings lost 4 of the 5 games and him and tyreke looked awkward on the court (despite that being tyreke's first few games).

but we will see what else is going on. as it stands now, this move doesn't move us closer to the championship. however, our playoff chances may have improved. but we will see who provides the offensive punch off the bench now that landry is gone.

Awful? Highly disagree that Landry is awful on defense. Someone that is awful is a liability out there, Landry actually does pretty good some nights...and some nights he does not...but I rate the guy's defense around average.

Still can't get over the fact that Landry is gone. Plus, Dorsey knew he was gonna be traded? Dang. That must suck to know he was going to the Knicks or another bad team.

that news came near the end when the bulls entered the conversation. the original deal as indicated by EVERY source was hill, jeffries, hughes/harring, swapping 2011 picks, 2012 pick.

Ok, I'll agree and say he's average. He IS a poor rebounder though, for someone 6'9" playing the PF spot.

He could be better, but he's not a liability there either. I think Kmart is a better player of course...when Kmart is healthy and all...

I am quite excited about this. It may not work out this year, it may not drastically improve this team.

But you have to imagine...Kmart and Brooks with Yao in the post is going to be damm hard to stop. Then Scola should still be our PF who is a good offensive player also...and Ariza would be the 5th option.

Sounds like good news to me, Ariza is a excellent 5th option if you ask me.

Actually it might be a pretty good alternative for him if the coach is willing to give him playing time, which IMO he deserves.

but that means he'll be getting some quality playing time... which i think means more to him than playing for a winning team at this point of his career.

Kings to deal Martin for T-Mac, Landry in 7-player trade

    By David Aldridge, TNT analyst
    Posted Feb 18 2010 2:48AM

This time tomorrow, Tracy McGrady will either be really relieved or really ticked off.

As of 2:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, McGrady was a Sacramento King, in a stunning turn of events that saw the Kings get involved in discussions on the 30-year-old former All-Star swingman and acquire him late Wednesday, along with forward Carl Landry and Joey Dorsey, from Houston for Kings star guard Kevin Martin, forwards Kenny Thomas and Hilton Armstrong and guard Sergio Rodriguez. The trade, done with secrecy as usual by Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie, was under almost everyone's radar, with most expecting that the Rockets would eventually get a deal done with the Knicks -- one of two teams that Houston had been negotiating with almost exclusively for the past few days -- for McGrady.

    Perhaps they still might.

A source involved in the discussions said early Thursday morning that there was still a "decent" chance that the Kings would re-route McGrady to New York by Thursday's 3 p.m. eastern trade deadline. The Knicks' package would include elements of the same package they offered Houston for McGrady: forwards Jared Jeffries and rookie Jordan Hill, guard Larry Hughes and draft picks.

The trade of Landry by Houston was a surprise. He had been one of Coach Rick Adelman's favorite players, an incredibly hard worker who had become, against all odds, one of the league's best fourth-quarter producers. But the Rockets were in desperate need of more offensive punch -- even, ironically, after scoring a season-high 127 points on Wednesday in a victory over Milwaukee.

ESPN.com first reported that the Kings were acquiring McGrady in a package for Martin.

so tmac will ask for a buyout if this trade stands as is. but there's a good chance the kings will deal with the knicks and i guess the pick protections will be a major part like it was for morey.

Guess what? Walsh backed off, decided to keep Hill if you happened to notice what happened later.

Guess what else? Rockets didn't get Jefries is actually a good thing, it also goes with the 2012 pick

So there is not too much to complain about.
