Kevin Martin is a very efficient scorer. He will supercharge our offense with his ability to draw fouls and get to the foul line. He is going to make Brooks and Ariza so much more efficient, it will be crazy. Between Martin and Lowry, we should be shooting 35 free throws a night.

    He's at nearly 45% fg, 40% 3 pt, & 85% ft for his career.

I can tell that you're tired or misinformed.

Lets see. The NBA has learned how to contain and neutralize Landry. Can they do the same for someone like Kevin Martin?

If No, then we made good on this deal. If yes, then we ****ed up.

Lot of blind, emotional gut reaction. I gotta seriously roll my eyes at all the INJURY PRONE! INJURY PRONE! screams. People don't understand what injury prone means. It means that your body physically isn't capable of handling the player's playing style. KMart isn't a 7 foot, 250 pound center and he's not a physical, aggressive driver.

Fact is we're still 28-25. I don't mind taking a guy who has the experience of carrying a team on his back and fits perfectly into Adelman's system over someone would always be under-utilized due to the Rocket's unevenly balanced roster. And you'd like to think of Landry as a young guy but he's not. He'll be the same age as KMart in September.

You guys need to put aside your emotion connection and some perspective when you start saying Landry > KMart. Landry will grow into a steady, powerful machine but he doesn't have much time to do it. KMart is already there and he's a higher ceiling than Landry. Carl's never gonna score 48 and that's absolutely nothing against him, he's not that type of player. KMart is and you guys should appreciate what that means.

I honestly don't know. We don't that type of talented big man on the roster. Heck, Hayes is our best passing PF/C. And Webber was the piece that made that team run. Hill could potentially be that guy, but not next year. At best in 2-3 yrs. Unless somehow we now snatch David Lee. I still want one of NYC's picks. If nothing else, that is a huge trading chip.

Isn't Martin currently playing hurt right now. Like he is at 70-80% or something. It makes me wonder if he would pass a physical. And if he does pass and added, do we sit him so he gets healthy and "develop young players" to get the draft pick to replace Landry? I really don't what Morey is doing. I don't think anyone does right now. Not as in he is crazy dumb, as in he is like 8 steps ahead of everyone else who is pawn in his chess match...or at least I hope.

More likely it is because the Kings wanted to Landry.

    This was a terrible deal

This isn't 3 years ago when Kmart was a legit high efficiency scorer

This man is on a steady decline thats been sped up by his injury prone body unable to handle a full season

Look at his last season and his current season stats. The man played 21 games only so far, and he's shooting under 40%! His latest injuries have been pretty serious as well.

Anyone who likes this trade is an idiot, not to mention we're locked into his terrible contract for the next 3 years... Lord help us.

I'm not sure what your definition of athleticism is...
Brooks as we know is one of the fastest guys in the league. He also has good hops and lateral speed. He is short and skinny if that is what you're tying to imply.
Martin's athleticism can probably best be compared to Brandon Roy. Martin has one of the best first steps in the league and has deceptive speed and hops. He is skinny as well but has some length at the SG position to make up for it.
Battier would actually be coming off the bench if he doesn't get traded. Ariza is our SF. You can't say that he's not athletic.
Scola and Yao are the only two that are below average compared to their respective positions in the athletic department. However, they are both bruisers and make up for their lack in speed and vertical with height (Yao) and huffort (Scola).

In my mind, the Rockets next year have what Morey wants in a team.
Quickness and speed in the back-court and size/strength in the front-court.
Ideally, you would want length/athleticism at the back-up PF/C position and strength/defense at the PG position (Lowry) to complement our 2010-11 lineup.

    Any more questions?

I never say things like this but I'm hoping for a failed physical by Martin.

I can't even stand this trade not to mention that I had to read about it on another message board then quickly had to click to this website.

The Rockets like him. They want to resign him. My impression is that Luis really wants to stay in Houston. More to the point for Morey, perhaps, is that he'll be easier to resign at a good value for his production than Landry was going to be. In my opinion, anyway.

Hate to lose Landry, but the gain of Martin and Rodriguez is nice.

    Overall, I like the trade.

Well, at least the brittle SG does get to the line a lot. 7, 10, 9 and 7 over the last 4 years.

Or, Morey is waiting for the Spurs to cut Ginobli loose, and having Scola here makes the team a lucrative destination for him.
