It's hard to grasp that Carl Landry probably played his last game as a Rocket last night...I'll sleep and see what turns up tomorrow morning.

Well...I thought we'd have fair chance at the playoffs, but now we've lost a power forward on a team that is already lacking big men and still has no viable backup for Yao, when he returns. No more Dorsey or Landry.

We pick up a player who be might be as durable as T-Mac, but a better scoring option at this point (though lacks the same play making abilities).

    Hilton Armstrong and Sergio Garcia.

    There goes out 2010 offseason.

I'm just going to go ahead say it right now, we have no shot at ever winning the title in the next few season unless we draft a player who turns out to be a monster. This team is going to do anything special.

    ESPN story updated:

    Sources: Martin heading to Rockets

The Houston Rockets, in an abrupt late twist to their long-running efforts to trade Tracy McGrady, have an agreement in place with the Sacramento Kings to acquire coveted guard Kevin Martin, ESPN.com has learned.

    Kevin Martin

    Martin

Martin was pulled from the second half of the Kings' game Wednesday night at Golden State in anticipation of the trade, sources said.

It remains possible that the deal could be expanded into a three-way deal that lands McGrady with the New York Knicks before Thursday's 3 p.m. trading deadline, after intense talks this month between the teams.

One source close to the situation confirmed to ESPN.com that landing McGrady with the Knicks before Thursday's 3 p.m. trading deadline is the goal, but the Rockets and Kings have a deal in the event that terms can't be reached that include New York.

    Trade Machine

The deal struck Wednesday night will send Martin, Kenny Thomas, Hilton Armstrong and Sergio Rodriguez to the Rockets for McGrady, Carl Landry, Joey Dorsey and an undisclosed amount of cash.

One source with knowledge of the talks told ESPN.com that McGrady will either end up with the Kings or the Knicks by the deadline. And Martin is definitely headed to Houston after Sacramento refused trade interest in the high-scoring guard for weeks.

Sources told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher that the Knicks would receive McGrady and Rodriguez in a three-team scenario.

If the deal cannot be expanded to include the Knicks, it remains to be seen whether Sacramento will simply buy out the remainder of McGrady's $22.5 million expiring contract, setting McGrady up to sign as a free agent and be eligible for the playoffs as long as a buyout happens before March 1.

I think this could work out. No question about Martin.

But Hilton Armstrong... interesting he has been behind some pretty decent Centers... Tyson Chandler, Jason Thompson, and Spencer Hawes.

I hope this 2nd trade fires him up he could be a diamond in the rough.

I wonder if we get anyone else! I am so sad, I'd rather trade Scola than Landry. :(

And if it doesn't expand into a NYK 3-way, issue then becomes whether Kings buy out T-Mac before March 1 so he's playoff-eligible elsewhere

Freaking Bill Simmons practically called it a year ago! Funny how that works out.

One of the 4's had to go eventually. It's just a numbers game. I love Carl and will always be a fan, but he just isn't a strong enough rebounder or defender to be the long term starting solution at the 4 and he was bound to be paid like one; kind of like are newly reacquainted friend Kenny Thomas. I just hope Martin can stay healthy. If he does, we know what he can do in Adelman's system.

As others have expressed, I'll be sad to see Landry go, but I'm very excited about Martin. He's exactly what the Rockets need - especially for next year. He was clearly the Rockets top target at SG and you have to give to get.

I'm still hoping the Rockets send KT to the Bulls for Tyrus Thomas or make another deal for an athletic 4 before the deadline...

To be honest it is not the ideal situation BUT it is not the only time an organization had severe lacking in trust with its star player.
Given the situation I think Morey did alright.
I just hope he can find some talent at PF in the draft or through trade
WE got to move on. The absence of Landry is going to hurt nonetheless.

No evidence Lakers would have interest, but Danny Ferry kept an eye on T-Mac this season. That said, unclear if either team would want him. 1 minute ago from web

I really really hope we are getting Jordan Hill.

I am ok with losing Landry for Martin. I think Martin will prove in this offense to be ok at playmaking and be a scorer as well. We get good shots, but our current personnel are poor at converting.

This helps Ariza and Brooks IMO.

    Hayes/Armstrong
    Scoa/Andersen
    Ariza/Battier
    Martin/Budinger
    Brooks/Lowry.
