One down... A little more then any of us wanted to pay, but I think everyone would agree we are getting a proven young scorer, who with some work might develop into a decent 4. If not, he can play some 3 (depending on opponent) and Eddie grows into our 4. All-in-all, I'm happy at least we have 2/3 of our front court in-place (assuming Eddie starts). I'm afraid Collier won't play much early on and Cato is gonna really have to turn it around. I hope we secure Jackson or McCoy and then sign Mooch. SA may be worth signing to fill out our bench. Having a good back-up 2 isn't a bad thing. OK, CD back to you...get it done Baby!
i know we underpaid for Mobley, but in comparison we are about to overpay by far for taylor. first off it Mo has not been concistant. i like what he can do, and infact what he did in seceral games, but i actually hoped for him to show us more. i think he MAY be worth this contract, but he has not proven it to me yet. i dont want another salery cap killer. i want to be able to get a free agent aquisition. i would like to think that just because the organization has the money that they HAVE to spend it. and i "bit high" is by no means "OH my friggin god" i was really just hoping for a bit less. if you still feel the need to disagree with me, than so be it. im glad we re-signed him, im glad we let dream go. I hope our fearless leaders continue to work on moochie and maybe Jackson. night night
by far. This is GREAT news. Now its moochie time. Hopefully there will be enough left over to get some sort of a center. I would like to have shandy back, but clearly he doesnt deserve big money.
Now, re-sign Shandon and Mooch, sign Sabonis or some other good center, and I might manage to give the Rockets a D+ for this offseason.
Actually I think Moochie may be the last to officially sign, because he has Bird rights, or early-bird, so the Rockets can sign him even if it puts them over the cap. I'm not a salary cap expert, so I'm not totally sure. But the Rockets will probably sign all others first that they can get, and then Mooch will come last. Of course, it wouldn't hurt to get a verbal agreement from him.
Better is relative. If you want a scorer and a good free throw shooter, Mo's your man. If you want a guy who plays defense, has more assists, blocks, rebounds, and steals per game, Bo's your man.
48 million is perfect for Mo... it's what many of us have been predicting the whole time (at least I think I was guessing that; hopefully I'm not pulling a Fred Flintstone). 6 mill starting off though makes me wonder why the Rockets couldn't have upped the ante to ~6 or 7 per year for Dream. Surely Shandon Anderson wouldn't have kept Dream out of Houston (I'm over it, btw(I think Dream gets a great opportunity in Tor, as do the kids back home w/o him in the paint), I'm just pondering a question).
Better is relative, but Outlaw is undersized in the Eastern Conference. For the Rockets, Taylor is better than Outlaw.
.....and I'd rather develop Mo's defensive skills than teach Bo how to shoot. EWWW, his shot is nasty!!!
Once again management has overpaid. Fato 1st and now MoTaylor. I don't want to hear the word "upside". MoTaylor is Fato with a nice offensive moves. His defense is average and rebounding is terrible. That does not equal $8 mil in my book. If MoTaylor conditions his body like Karl Malone and starts running the floor and rebounding, $8 mil is okay, not a steal. Mo, get in shape, play great D, and rebound for the money your are getting. Get with MJ's trainer before the season starts.
Those raises are illegal. You are using compound interest. This is what I have based on maximum 12.5% raises, simple interest. $6.1 $6.1 + $762.5K $6.1 + $762.5K + $762.5K $6.1 + $762.5K + $762.5K + $762.5K $6.1 + $762.5K + $762.5K + $762.5K + $762.5K $6.1 + $762.5K + $762.5K + $762.5K + $762.5K + $762.5K -------------- $48.03m Looks like he asked for a few dollars more than Outlaw.
6 years is a longer contract than I expected the Rockets to give Mo Taylor especially since Eddie Griffin is projected as the PF of the future for the Rockets. Mo does have good trade value though if Eddie pans out. Still the Rockets have an interesting situation at the 4. Taylor, Griffin and Thomas are a good trio but the Rockets can't expect to keep all 3 for the duration of Mo's contract. I guess the only questions that remain are who goes and when? Kenny's contract is up at the end of next season isn't it?
MAN, i would love to get a 12.5%raise every year. now thats a job i could stick with this is how it looks starting with normal person money. 40,000 45,000 50,625 56,953 64,072 72,081 81,091 91,227 102,631 115,460 129,892 146,129 164,395 184,945 208,063 234,071 253,330 yes thats 17 years (hakeems tenure in H-town) a good career, and a total of more than 6 times your origional salery.
