He would be an upgrade but He is injury prone. Might end up riding the bench half of the season in street clothes.
ok, no chandler, how about camby? i mean we need someone there. it's a need unless we're tanking. if we are, next year's gonna suck. we came so close to winning it, then we lose yao. we need someone to keep us at least competitive.
That's Astos mentality and you see whats happened to the Lastos. being set up in the future to win it all is more important than making the playoffs and getting knocked out in the first round for 3 years. We have to be smart and save as much cash for 2010. Making a desperate push and taking back bad contracts just to have a winning season is great...until the season is over and there we see the summer of love pass us by because we couldn't hold out for a year.
We do need a center, but unless we are trying to win it all, we don't need Camby. I would rather get a young center with potential than an older better and proven player. We need to get young, and Camby isnt.
people have to understand that we are looking for young talent, not veterans, as we are in rebuild mode for 2010. we know were are not winning it this year so why would we get aging men like camby or chandler? we need a young center or tall pf. we got brooks, lowry, taylor, budinger, landry, white and wafer (if we sign him) and we just added ariza to that mix, its obvious we want young atlent not old people. yao still isnt old, and neither is scola they still have a few more years on their tank. our oldest players are battier, mcgrady, and barry. it would make a lot more sense to get zaza who is only 25. he stil may have some growth in him, which with adleman he could be able to do. that is why we are also interested in the kids in portland such as rudy fernandez, jared bayless, channing frye, and travis outlaw.
I think Scola has another 5 solid years left, based on the way he plays and his durability. He knows his limitations and plays within them, while still constantly looking for ways to improve. One of the reasons I like him so much. The Rocks wouldn't hesitate to sign an older vet if Yao and McGrady were healthy and it might "put them over the top." That not being the case, I'm glad they are going hard for a youth movement, while still trying to be competitive. Rebuilding on the fly. Zaza fits that. The guy would be a nice backup. Not starter material, but definitely an option if your really needing a decent big body due to an injury to your star 5. I wouldn't want to pay too much for him, though. Gortat was a much better option. Not a lot of options out there. Bummer!
Plenty of players have been like this - very few of them avoided a steep decline between ages 30-35. You guys are overvaluing him. He looked good against the Lakers who had no true PF, or against LaMarcus "Two D's in my surname is enough D for me" Aldridge, when other players set him up, but he gets overmatched on defense vs. the big, athletic PF's that a lot of teams tend to have. I fear that the grind of being the sole low post threat over 82 games at age 29-30, with no Yao or Tracy or even Ron to get him open shots, or garbage baskets - is going to make him look a lot less effective. You can't just toss him an entry pass 20 times a game and let him work - he's not that kind of player.
I've got no one. Luckly, it isnt my job to find them! I do really like Camby though, but without Yao and an older team of vets looking to make the finals, I don't see the point.
I would like to see Morey pick up R.Swift and C.Mihm One vet (Mihm) One young guy with potential (Swift)
