Punk ass Garnett. BTW look he is a couple inch taller than Al Horford who is listed as a 6'9 and almost as tall as KG how is taller than listed, when bump his face . Don't believe that pictures taken form the floor, camera man are usually smaller that the player and the perspective affect the farthest person from the camera.
If the Hawks are signing David Andersen they might not want to add a third C for more than the min. Cook + $3M → Zaza (S&T) Hawks fill a roster spot (only 6 players signed) and only pay Cook $500k to do so without looking like they are being cheap. He's the Hawks beat writer for Atlanta's major paper.
Did you hear this proposal from a rockets source or is this your idea? Either way it sounds like a damn fine proposal. It gets Cook off of our books and it nets us a C/PF. Sign me up for it. Zaza kinda reminds me of Luis Scola thats a little bit taller, a little bit more athletic but isnt as good skillswise.
Though Zaza clearly isn't the best center in the game, the guy has a lot of heart and like a lot of people have said- a hard work motive. He's shown alot of emotion in past playoff games that shows he really wants to win.
here's a top 10 for zaza. it's not really intended to sway anyone's decision, but it looks like he likes to run a bit <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Zz8TblzbYEA&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Zz8TblzbYEA&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Where's all this "We're tanking it next year" talk coming from? I very much doubt that the Rockets are even entertaining such a defeatist attitude. It does look like they may be facing the reality of giving up on the Yao/McGrady era & moving more towards a youth movement. But, you can bet your last dollar that they're doing everything they can to put a team on the floor that will compete every night. Having said that, there are a couple of young centers flying under the radar that I'd take a good long look at. Johan Petro (RFA) (23 y/o) Petro is the 3rd string center for Denver & could probably be had for part of the trade exception & a future 2nd round pick. He does seem to get into foul trouble a lot, but when he gets 20+mpg, he puts up some quality numbers. He's not a very good shooter or shot blocker, but he can pull down the rebounds. He's not starting material, but would make a good backup, even though he looks like an alien. Ryan Hollins (RFA) (24 y/o) I'm really intrigued by this young man. He didn't get a lot of minutes last year in Dallas, but he's very athletic, a solid shooter, a good rebounder, & has the potintial to be a great shot blocker. He's young & still sporatic, but I see a lot of potential in him. If we could get him cheap, I'd really like us to make a run at him.
Coming from a Hawks fan that, you know, actually watches Pachulia play: I can tell you he would be a fantastic addition depending upon the price. Much like Scola, he has his limitations but plays to his strengths and gets the most out of his abilities. He's not the most skilled or most athletic player yet he always finds a way to leave his fingerprints upon the game -- for better or worse. He's VERY physical and will make whoever he is guarding work hard. Some of these responses have been cracking me up like "he doesn't block shots, therefore teams will attack at will" -- as if he averaged one block or 1.5 this somehow wouldn't be an issue (yeah, okay). But anyway, he's not your typical Euro big that floats around on the perimeter and shies away from contact. In fact, he's the exact opposite of that. He would definitely add a little toughness and nastiness to this team. Overall, you can't really go wrong with a player like Pachulia. Good teammate, works hard, knows his role, very crafty and surprises you here & there. We desperately need to add height so if a player like Pachulia comes along for the right price you really can't go wrong. He's definitely not my first choice but he's a solid bench player. Unfortunately, we have bigger needs than adding yet another glue guy. Still like the idea, though.
I mean, if this is the best replacement for Yao we can get at this point, I'll support signing or trading for Zaza. My expectations are higher, but if he could give us 10/10 a game, that would be awesome.
Barry and Budinger are Americans, not Caucasians. Jake and Zaza are from Gerorgia, therefore, they are Caucasians.
I agree with all of this. He would make an excellent championship caliber backup for Yao when (if) he is healthy and definitely a serviceable interim especially at the price. He is the type of guy you love to have on your team and hate to go up against. Like Pryzbilla. Zaza is emotional on the floor too, we need that.
He is a center and so far nothing has been done for this position so getting him is always a plus. Having a big that is healthy and can give quality minutes is always welcome. he may not be another Yao or Shaq but if He can deliver at least in spurts and play defense then having him is a plus. The team needs to get bigger and if this is the first step then why not?
ZaZa will be a good pick up if the Rockets can get him. He has been a guy that is used to coming off the bench and was Yao is back he can be the back up center the Rockets have been looking for. I just hope Morey can get the center position taken care of soon.
