That would be a great lineup. Sign and trade tjones asik moti for millsap. Anyone that way we have a legit 5 man team.
Trade away three young players with upside for paul Milsap? HELL NO!!! Somebody laced your weed with cocaine or something?
Why Iguodala Would Actually Be Pretty Good For Our Team Ok, I know he want's a long term contract, but with that he'll be willing to sacrifice some cash in order to attain it. This means, unlike with CP3 or Josh Smith, we can sign Dwight and Iggy and not have to gut the entire rest of our roster (yes this is based on the assumption that we get Dwight). We would probably only need to move Lin and Asik. He's also still only 29 which isn't that old. If we sign Iguodala, we would be keeping Parsons and asking him to play the stretch 4 role like Rashard Lewis and Ryan Anderson did for Dwight in Orlando. He did this for us a couple times this season with success and I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that this is what he did in Florida. He's bulking up this off season so that's convenient, and he's already the same height as most fours. There are a lot of legitimate reasons to believe that he would be able to play that role at least as well as Lewis and Anderson have. The most important thing for any team is putting their best players in the best position possible. Signing Iguodala would do that for us. On offense, Harden will benefit a lot by not having four(ours and theirs) big men in the paint. It'll give him a lot more open lanes to drive and more shooters to kick out to after the defense collapses. Now Howard would benefit a ton as well. He'd be playing like he did when he was a top 3 player in Orlando -- him posting up in the paint surrounded by shooters. He would be able to put his man on a island in the paint, and have an easy and obvious pass out if help defense comes. Having a big man PF like Asik which some people are suggesting allows help defenders to crowd him much easier since it only requires a few steps to go back and forth, and it makes passes very difficult seeing as he would have to pass it through small pockets to get it to Asik. For our team it will give us an offensive weapon in Harden in the perimeter, and an offensive weapon in Dwight in the post, and it'll put both of them in the best position possible to be elite in those roles. On defense, obviously it becomes an issue if some big man is abusing Parson's frailness, but he'll have 3x DPOY Dwight being able to assist him there. Where we will benefit a lot is the improvement on our perimeter defense. We now have a go-to perimeter defender. We can put Iguodala on the opposing team's best, most active perimeter player, a great option when we face the elite teams. This not only improves our perimeter defense a ton, but now our guards, including Harden, can save all their energy for offense. So we would have one of the league's best perimeter defenders defending their best player, and we would have one of the league's best interior defenders to meet that best player in the paint any time he attempts a drive. Cliffs Less money than other talked about free agents so we won't have to gut the entire roster Move Parsons to a stretch 4 role he played in Florida and for us a few times this year. Something Dwight had when he was at his best in his Orlando days with Rashard and Ryan Anderson. Puts our best players in the best position possible on offense: 1. Harden by crowding the paint less which gives him a lot more driving lanes to push into. 2. Dwight by putting him a situation like he was in Orlando, him on an island surrounded by shooters. This makes pass outs simple and puts him on a 1 on 1 situation which he won't get if Asik is playing the paint next to him since Asik's man will crowd him anytime he gets the ball. Gives us a go-to perimeter defender whenever we need it it. He's an athletic player that can keep up with our high pace offense.
I have always liked Iguadola. He will get more than I would be willing to pay him however. My only concern is that his shooting seems to have gotten worse. Lin/Harden/AI/Parson/Howard is pretty strong though.
I've always loved Iggy but I think Denver resigns him while we stay content with Chandler at the 3 and pursuing other PFs through free agency or trades. He's athletic, smart, and skilled in many facets of the game but I really don't know how much money he'll be asking for. Denver still has his bird rights so they'd be able to give him a longer contract than us, which at 29 might just be what he's looking for.
Bloody Nora! Sounds like one of those terrible Bleacher Report articles or a really really desperate ABJ reach. Cliffs: 1) Asik & Lin > Iggy 2) will leave holes at the 1 & 4 3) Iggy is not a STAR we should build around at that price 4) wasn't there another Iggy thread, why start a new one?
Very unlikely for several reasons. 1. I don't think the Rockets will move Asik to sign Iggy, given their age and position respectively. Which leaves only Lin. 2. A S&T with the Nuggets for Iggy is unlikely, as they have both the center and the PG position well stocked. Hence, the Rockets are limited to something like a 4yr/$35mil deal. Which is quite below his market value, at least by my assumption. If the Nuggets were willing to do a S&T, then Iggy's starting salary would be ~$12mil, which would definitely be substantial enough to get him. 3. He can't shoot. The Rockets best fit isn't a playmaker right now, as they do have Harden and Lin. Iggy's playmaking skill on this team would be more of a luxury. However, the ability of all perimeter players to be able to spread the floor is a basic tenant of Rockets(and most top NBA offense) philosophy. And he doesn't have that.
He opted out for a longer contract. He actually said that with opting out he expects to lose money for now but it's a matter of balancing the pros and cons since he'll get security by having a longer contract. It's a role he was comfortable in when he was in Florida. Rashard was also an SF until he got to Orlando and became a stretch PF. Then he went to the finals.
You forgot to count his elite defense. He can play 3 or 4 (our weakest link). When you have a bunch of forward on a team like Nuggets, you take turn to rebound. If Howard come and Asik stays, I could careless if he has 0 rebound. On the other hand CP3 is also a great defender which can hide Harden's at times but don't expect Harden to put up superstar offensive number when you have CP3 creating. Either guy I'll be happy but I feel outcome of win-loss might not be that different while Iggy will be much cheaper.
I don't think the Rockets should sign anyone dumb enough to opt out of receiving $16 million of guaranteed money. If he did it because of decisions the organization made, he should have just demanded a trade. Keep the money. Demand the trade.
I'd take him if he came cheap. Would be a hell of a sixth man. He previously stated that he knew, by opting out, he would be paid no where near the amount he wold have if he stayed. Think he just wants a multiple year deal. T guarantee security.
