Ive always liked iggy but he's been overpaid his whole career. This is obviously plan c and, for the right price, he could be a valuable contributor. Having a savy vet who can play lockdown perimeter d is great. The problem is, he doesnt stretch the floor and I dont think he or parsons will be able to guard traditional 4's. When we thought yao might come back, I really wanted him next to kevin martin (because the two are complete opposutes). Now ? I just don't see it working.
We do need more defense, no doubt about it. Adding Dwight, even if we keep Asik, is not quite enough.
We are not targeting him, at all. I just don't believe it, what good does he do especially with a huge contract that he's going to want.
Is there really a traditional 4 in the league anymore that can dominate to the point of having to send extra defenders?
I really hope we have no interest in Iguodala unless he wants to sign for ~$5m per season. At that price, he has some value to the team. Otherwise, I don't see a reason to prefer having a guy like Iggy having impact only on the defensive end, when we can sign someone cheaper to have impact only on the offensive end. Plus, if we have Howard, Parsons' defensive impact will improve and he was already pretty good.
You do that, and we will do that, at opportunistic times. CP starts at the 3, and some games(more often than not) finishes at their 4. Let's keep him on the perimeter for defensive purposes to start games out and let some other go-getter be a 25mpg esque PF. If we do get Dwight, I really don't see the harm in letting D-Mo play. His defense is atrocious but for 25mpg he can be a really unique offensive piece. He stretches the floor, has some solid post moves, etc. He needs to add some LBs and some defensive structure, but that's what development is for. It's imperative we recruit a tough-nosed swingman that can finish games, play tough D, and is active on the boards(like a Matt Barnes or Stephen Jackson). Ideally, I'd like this: C- Dwight Howard 36mpg/ D-Mo 12mpg PF- D-Mo 14mpg/ TJones- 20mpg/ Chandler-14mpg SF-CHandler 20mpg/ Sjax or Barnes-28mpg SG- Harden 38/Lin- 10 PG- Lin 24/ Beverely- 24 Defensively, yes we have Harden and D-Mo out there. But defensively overall it's really sound. Their are shooters everywhere besides T-Jones and Dwight. The question is, is it worth developing T-Jones & Dmo like this? No doubt we can find a better overall 4-man for 30-35mpg given Asik's value, but the ceiling is higher with these two, our trade demands go up, and we have better control of our assets. We could then opt to deal Asik for multiple 1st rounders + TPE or expiring contract. And utilize those assets in summer of 2014.
Either you know the Rockets "aren't targeting him, at all" or you don't believe that they are... Can't be both... At all
smoke in the water. millsap would be more awesome and perfect fit, plus very cheap. Lin Harden Parsons Millsap Dwight Asik on Bench and a bunch of shooters/defenders. Will beat the Heat.
Why wouldn't they target Iggy?. In my opinion iggy is better then Parsons. Iggy can start and I think Parsons coming off the bench is no issue. Parsons can be a ginobili. Also They lineupes during the games they can easily have their best players on the floor with parsons, Harden and iggy. So many combinations out their during games. Parsons could be the sixth man with him backing up iggu and coming in at different positions and lineupes.
I don't know if we can even manage that with Lin at 8.3M Asik at 8.3M Millsap at like 8-10M (?) And Howard and Harden both on Max contracts.
doubt it, no point in wasting money on an aging role player like him. They would be better off not signing anyone
