Hmm no, a month ago I would have likely said so. Ivey is a lot longer and quicker to the corner…. But Green has tangibly improved since then. I wouldn’t be shocked if Ivey turned out better but Green gets the call because he has played at an all star level to end the year.
I just disagree with the first part . Playing vets doesn’t always equal trying to win . What if the rookies are better ? I think playing the vets was the lower variance strategy .. but we knew we would be bad . with sengun and Christopher in particular , these guys flashed very high upside early on. Yet they didn’t get that much playing time . I think with theis , he actually did make our defense better (remember we had a good D the first 20 or so games despite the bad record ) .. part of that was we decided to start green right away even though he was clearly not ready . did those early 20 games really help him later on in the season ? Or should his improvement be attributed more to the work he put in in-between games ? not that I wasn’t ok with that decision ... I just think we WERE trying to lose . We didn’t feel the need to develop sengun or jc that way . We also have 40 million sitting on the bench . Imo about half the time we were playing the vets it was to lose . We know what they can give us and it’s not enough ... with the young guys there’s a chance they get hot . The team was designed to be bad . We didn’t try some of our higher upside lineups until later in the year . Theis is giving productive minutes on Boston ... we didn’t use him correctly here . We set in stone before the year that this season was about green , kpj , and wood . I don’t care if we are bad as a byproduct . This year it felt like being bad was the goal . I’d rather that not be the case next year . 28 wins is great with me . Good point on the draft
I hope Love is right. They really need JA. And the loss of Rubio will be more impactful in postseason. Cavs should consider signing Kemba before play in. Anything to help improve our Nets pick.
Im sure its camera angle, but Evan is looking kinda chiseled! His shoulders are a hell of alot wider than Chets.
Always had at least 20 lbs more muscle than Chet. But looks like he has gained more since the draft for sure.
I worry about Ivey in the half court setting. I’m not sure he has any skills that help half court offenses rn
My geriatric Mom has shoulders wider than Chet's, and she weighs 100 lbs. Don't have high hopes for Chet, TBH. Some frames can't add much muscle and he'll always have a high center of gravity.
every time you hit the tankathon button and the Rockets finish in top 4, you are depriving us of a "chance". - Aron Baynes
I'd be okay with one more season. After next year there wouldn't even be a point though. Our picks go to the Thunder after that. But if our kids take a huge leap next year and we're too good to tank, I'm not mad at that.
I fully disagree. The team didn't put their best lineup on the floor, which shows they weren't doing all they could to win games. If the team was really trying to win then Wall would've been playing, as opposed to his minutes going towards trying KPJ at PG and letting Christopher get some burn.
He gets to the hole with ease, finishes very well with contact... he gets around the corner better than anyone I have seen since McGrady and his three point shooting has improved.... he should be fine in a half court set. in college he has arguably the worst spacing in all of college basketball with all of those big guys and a point guard that wasn't very good. If I have a concern with Ivey it is whether he can be a combo guard at the NBA level.... because he will need to be a Dwayne Wade type combo guard to maximize his ability.
Is your geriatric mom 7'1" with a 7'8" wingspan, nimble feet and great instincts.... and can can 40% of her 3's? Does she have an elite second step? If she does you may want to enter her in this draft.
