I dont care if he's humble. I've never needed that to satisfy my fandom. I want them to be GENUINE. When Jalen Green says he wants to be like Kobe people believe him.

When Evan Mobley says he is a generational talent - nobody believes him. Hot air coming from a beta who needs Daddy to lead the way for him.

Almost illogical which is strange considering how methodical and purposeful the Mobley's are.

If @ch44 and @NIKEstrad are correct that there is conflict due to a prior USC relationship with Porter, then Porter's preemptive and aggressive stance for Green shines an entirely different light on situation.

If Porter is pushing Rockets toward Green instead of the formerly unanimous 2nd best player in the draft then the organization still has the same broken star culture that many CFers attributed to Morey.

If this is personal for Porter, then he is not looking out for Rockets best interest but his own.

And we all know that Porter does not always make the right decisions.

Mobley’s dad coached Kevin Porter Jr. at USC. KPJ was suspended while there for off court behavior — could very well be some history there.

KPJ is the current star of the team — like it or not. It now makes sense in context why Evan Mobley mentioned Wood, but not KPJ in the only Twitter quote I’ve seen of him referencing Rockets players.

 

This has LaVar Ball written all over it - daddy is deciding where son will play.

 

And its no coincidence that each of the Ball Brothers have done BETTER as soon as their father stopped meddling in their affairs.

 

I was thinking about LaVar Ball too. He and Mobley aren't exactly the same. I think LaVar had some business interests in marketing his boys.

But yeah, that kind of thing unnecessarily adds pressure and distraction on the kid and kind of stunted the confidence in his own development.
