I still don't see why the Hornets get so much love. They beat a weak Dallas team in the playoffs last year.

Is that all it takes to be perennial championship contenders? I'm not buying into them. They haven't proved diddly squat.

To be fair to northeastfan, if you're not somewhat disappointed with the Rox in the Yao/T-Mac era you're probably dead. The Rockets have had zero playoff success and they've been plagued with frustratingly inconsistent play. They'll play likes champs one night and then mail it in the next. That stretches all the way back to the JvG era, was apparent last year in horrible losses to Toronto and Philly, and continued into the early part of this season. And recently there have been the lapses in sticking to Adelman's game plan and playing his offense. I know I rant and rave when the Rockets revert to standing around and watching the guy with the ball. And of course it's only one short step from disappointment to deep, abiding bitterness.

That said I've still got hope for this season. Artest, the three game road sweep, the return of Battier, the emergence of Brooks, Landry and Scola, etc.

I liked this part of the article:

    --------------------

    9. Is there a dumber argument in sports than "Chris Paul or Deron Williams"?

I argued before the season, passionately, that Paul was in a different league and earned myself a few death threats from the Salt Lake City area. (You stay classy, Utah.) Check out their 2009 stats through four weeks:

    • Paul: 20.5 PPG, 12.2 APG, 2.9 steals, 52.3% FG, 85.6% FT.
    • Williams: 7.5 PPG, 8.0 APG, 0.0 steals, 26.7% FG, 66.7% FT.

I mean, that's a landslide! Come on! Can we all agree to stop arguing about this?

    --------------------

I wouldn't live in Utah if my life depended on it.

Add to that the good play of Yao in the last few games.

Hope is all we have, but I think we're getting more and more used to disappointment.

The only good analyst for ESPN is John Hollinger. Who cares what Simmons or Jalen Rose has to say.

blah blah blah. c'mon kiddos. houston NEVER gets respect and when they do they always falter under pressure.

This where we are most comfortable. having to go out there and earn our respect and then even after winning NOT getting respect.

who cares what the media says. let's just worry about what our team is actually doing.

on that note, we were picked as one of the top teams before the season started and now look at us. we arent far but we arent exactly close to the celtics and lakers.

Legler and Kenny Smith are about the only analysts I bother listening to.

They won't give the Rockets respect even if they win the title. Its something I've gotten used to over the years. The Lakers and Celtics are old school favorites and always will be.
