http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/Co...044442957278&DPL=IvsNDS/7ChAX&tacodalogin=yes From the Toronto Star: The NBA trade deadline is next Thursday and the unofficial halfway mark arrives with this weekend's all-star break. Raptors general manager Rob Babcock has plenty of assets and not much success to build on. Here's a look at some of his movable parts: Donyell Marshall Miami, Houston, San Antonio, Philadelphia, New York have all expressed interest; his contract expires, he's a fine spot-up shooter who might be able to put a contender over the top. Deal chances: Good to great
Trade MoT for Marshall + Bosh + a future first round pick. If they won't bugde, take out the pick and call it a deal.
If he is cheap enough I would love to have him. I think it would be good to work in someone like him, he is a soild vet and decent scorer, I feel like we need some more depth off the bench.
He can score, rebound and defense the fact that he played for the Utah helps in terms of decision making and shot selection I'll grab this guy if I'm CD
If you could guarantee that Marshall would re-sign with us this offseason, would you send a 1st rounder (20th or so) and our T.E. to acquire him? Keep in mind if you did that, you would still have the full MLE to work with in the offseason to add ANOTHER player to the team. (That is if Les authorizes us to spend the MLE). EDIT: More Dreamcasting...... What if you could then trade Taylor for Derrick Anderson? What if you then in the offseason threw the entire MLE at Antonio Daniels PG: Sura/Daniels SG: Wesley/Barry SF: Tmac/Anderson PF: Howard/Marshall C: Yao/Deke
grab Marshall and we have a great rental-type of player for the playoffs grab Marshall and Williams (to backup Tmac and to replace crazy-legs Bowen) and CD should be GM of the Year
That's a tough call. I really miss having 1st round picks and we really need to add some youth to this team. I would wait and hope to sign Marshall in the summer time before I said a 1st rounder over there. As well as Howard has been playing for us lately, I wouldn't hesitate to deal any of our PFs over there. Marshall is an expiring contract, if he walks-we get some more cap space, and we would be able to get rid of some bad contracts as well.
No first rounders for this underachieving piece of crap. How much of an upgrade is this guy over Howard? Not much if any. No reason to aquire Marshell unless we are getting rid of a longer contract.
DA is a much more realistic option at this point, Marshall is too valuable an asset for us to acquire with what we're offering... Portland appears to be a front-runner to land Spree in a trade before the deadline, so now they would have their athletic swingman they wanted allowing them to move DA to us... (that was the "snag" IMO) Be very happy to get DA for MoT before the deadline folks...PF may have to wait till this summer.
I think the question is, how much of an upgrade is Donyell Marshall over Mo "street clothes" Taylor. And I think the answer is, about as much of an upgrade as Heidi Klum would be over a stapler.
Are they still only willing to ship out Marshall if Rose is included? If so, that is A LOT of salary to take on. I don't think Rox could or should do it.
Donyell is a three point shooting machine. He'd really draw the defense away from the paint. Would be a solid move if no Rose.
You echo my sentiments as well. If I knew Les would be willing to fork over the MLE regardless of a TE + 1st for Donyell(and that Donyell would re-sign for reasonable $$$), then I'd probly go for it. But there are no guarantees. So I stay pat, draft best available, and pursue Donyell over the summer with the MLE.
