I'm gonna go ahead and side with DD when I say that it's budingers job to lose. He did well last year as a starter and showed improvement on the defensive end. I see Morris giving him a run for his money coming off of the bench though at the first part of the season. This competition will be key to driving success in both of these guys. We will see who really wants it more by December. Im really looking forward to that battle. I see Morris being a good fit next to Scola given their skillets and strengths as well. As for Terrence.... Well I don't think his attitude has and will ever change and Kevin McHale like Adelman will make him PROVE that he can be a role player first to earn minutes. Given Terrences interview the other day he still seems like an entitled prick who thinks he should be given the keys to the car to drive it how he wants. This guy will get a shot in training camp, but if he doesn't buy in he's gone by Christmas.
CX should put his money where his mouth is and say that his boy Morris will win the job.... He might just do it.....but more than likely he will be like PPat and gets a little time over the season, but will still be developing etc. Most guys drafted that low in the first round are not instant contributors.. DD
I don't feel Budinger was consistent enough last year to where he should get the job by default. I'm not against him starting, but I'm hoping he, Morris, and even Williams are all given the same opportunity to win the starting job before the season starts.
The problem for Twill is in the offense they are running, he is a guy that plays ON the ball, but doesn't play well off it. If they keep the same offense he is going to continue to struggle unless he has been working on moving off the ball. If they change up the system, or allow the 2nd unit to be more dribble penetration oriented etc, he might thrive. Not sure about Morris, I think he will go through the Rookie blues and will probably spend some time in the D-league...but like PPat will probably be a contributor late in the season. DD
I agree. That seems the most likely scenario. And I don't have a lot of hope for Williams either. He'll need to have improved a ton to justify getting major minutes next year.
I think Marcus Morris will start just because he seems to be pretty versatile and would cause lots of matchup problems for the opposition. Good rebounder, plays strong, above average defender. Any chance of getting all of the 2009 lottery picks in the game at the same time this season?? Crazy how we ended up with 4 lottery pick players from 2009 when we did not have a single pick going into the 2009 draft. C- Hasheem Thabeet (2) PF - Jordan Hill (8) SF - Chase Budinger (44) SG - Terrence Williams (11) PG - Johnny Flynn (6)
Right now, I'm thinking Chase. Not sure about Marcus Morris, it might be next year, unless Chase gets injured. Terrence Williams, I'm doubting that Though I have to say, wait until the offseason is over. Maybe someone from this list http://hurricanedij39.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/5825252/30221754 1. Jeff Green, Boston Celtics (restricted) - Last December, I was mocked when I said Green wasn't the right fit for the Thunder in the long-term. Who's laughing now? He still has star talent, but struggled fitting in with his new teammates after the trade. Let's face it, though. Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce aren't getting any younger, so Green seems to be the right fit going forward. 2. Thaddeus Young, Phildelphia 76ers (restricted) - He's not a star, but he's versatile, he's athletic, and he's smart. Who wouldn't want Thaddeus Young on their team? 3. Tayshaun Prince, Detroit Pistons (unrestricted) - Still a top-tier defender, but he's kind of yesterday's news. If you're team is rebuilding and headed in a different direction, Prince is not for you, but if you're team is contending and looking to take the next step, he could prove to be a quality addition. 4. Caron Butler, Dallas Mavericks (unrestricted) - I've always thought he was overrated in Washington, and in Dallas, you saw why as the Mavs were the same team without him as they were with him. He thrives primarily in isolation plays. Now, he's 31 coming off a major injury. Yikes. Not the best time for a contract year. 5. Andrei Kirilenko, Utah Jazz (unrestricted) - Still brings nice versatility to the table. Has been in need of a fresh start for quite some time. He could be a decent fit in Oklahoma City filling that stretch power forward spot since vacated by Jeff Green. 6. Wilson Chandler, Denver Nuggets (restricted) - His dreadful Playoff perfomance shows that he's just he the same player away from Mike D'Antoni's offense. We'll see if he's willing to accept the one-year qualifying offer from Denver, which would make him an unrestricted free agent next year. A return to New York could be in the cards. Rumor had it that Chandler and Raymond Felton could have headed back to the Knicks some time before next year's trade deadline in exchange for the expiring contract of Billups, though that obviously isn't happening with Felton having been dealt to Portland tonight. 7. Grant Hill, Phoenix Suns (unrestricted) - The ageless vetaran had his best season with the Suns in 2010-11, averaging 13.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. Will he return? 8. Shane Battier, Memphis Grizzlies (unrestricted) - Same old story - Good glue guy and a great teammate. 9. Peja Stojakovic, Dallas Mavericks (unrestricted) - Looked reborn after signing with Dallas, shooting 40 percent from three-point range with the Mavs. He's not getting any younger, though. So, I wouldn't count on him doing it again. 10. Sonny Weems, Toronto Raptors (restricted) - See here: http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/ entry/5825252/29828246 Other Notables: * Mike Dunleavy, Indiana Pacers (unrestricted) - Had a brekout campaign in 2007-08, but suffered a knee injury the following year and has been riding the mediocrity train ever since. He's still a good role player, but his sub-par defense makes him a mediocre option. * Al Thornton, Golden State Warriors (unrestricted) - Two seasons and two teams removed from a breakout season in which he averaged 16.8 points and 5.2 rebounds. Could he bounce back? * James Jones, Miami Heat (unrestricted) - Was Miami's most effective three-point specialist last season and is from Miami, so it would be logical that he finishes his career there. * Josh Howard, Washington Wizards (unrestricted) - What do you know? Nick Anderson Syndrome really does exist. Howard's career has slowly but surely been in free fall since his poor Finals performance back in 2006, and in 2010 in his second game as a Wizard, he suffered an ACL injury to speed up the process. Considering that he was never really a high-character guy in the first place, he's not worth the risk. Pass.
I don't see Morey letting Buddinger lose his job. Bud will be traded before he goes from starter to bench warmer. Send him to phoenix in a Gortat package. Let's hope he doesn't slump like last year.
I rather just keep our own SF's. Not really a position of need anymore for us with Morris and Parsons on board. Especially with the options above lol. Other than Jeff green, I don't see anyone of them being an improvement to Chase and Morris.
I feel Bud has some fight in him so lets not write him off yet. While I feel MM will be a starter eventually, I don't see him being ready as a rookie.
Thaddeus Young ... maybe. I wouldn't think any of our small forwards are as good as Young right now. In future, possibly, but not today or even the upcoming season. He might be pricey, in which case I probably would stick with what we have.
Yeah...I don't see him as a significant enough upgrade to get. He'll be too pricey. Green, though is worth it.
I disagree about his defense not being as bad as Martin's mainly because of the position Bud plays. Bud will always have to guard the players who are so much stronger and quicker (laterally) than he. Martin just has to play the passing lanes and make sure his man does not get an open jumper. Bud is our biggest defensive liability on our team and should be sold while his stock is high as part of a bigger deal.
Just as chase struggles on defense, what makes people think morris won't struggle as much? The rockets defensive struggles runs deeper than chase. I don't se morris beating out chase offensively or even defensively. Willims is more sg than sf also. I guess we will see, but I thnk after he got the start post battier trade, he played well.
My guess is Chase is the starter but Morris will work his way into the lineup. Morris won't be a starter this year but next year he most likely will.
Oh yeah by the way, before we worry about who starts first, lets worry about the lock out situation first because there probably will be no games for them to fight over who's starts.
Wtf.....I really don't understand this Marcus Morris hype. Someone please explain it to me. If this guy was so good, then why was he drafted at 14.......
