I don't want to wait 2-3 weeks and then tell me that Wafer is our BIG free agent signing. hopefully a decent center..
Funny how it can be said that Williams, an ATLANTA HAWKS PLAYER was hurting during the playoffs and that stands as a legitimate reason for his less than stellar play but T-MAC'S INJURY is completely overlooked for his less than stellar play as he is accused of dogging it. Anyway, I would really like to see the Rockets make a run @ Lamar Odom. With his size, length, & skill set I think he would fit in nicely in this offense. He is another guy that can create for himself & others b/c of his handle. He can also rebound @ a high level and is a constant matchup nightmare when he is on the floor. As he comes to the realization that he is not going to get 10 mil/yr., Morey should swoop in & get his signature on a contract for the MLE.
Horford, Gasol, Hawes, and The Good Lopez are all extremely unlikely to be available. David Lee is possible if we join the bidding war. I don't know why the Bulls would look to move Noah. And is that Ty Thomas or Tim Thomas (or someone else) you're listing? I don't think either qualify for any minutes at center. IMO, our most likely available options are Amare and Okafor.
Chris Mihm just got dropped by memphis, what happen to him i know he got injured in LA but haven't heard from him since. He is only 30
Morey seems positive that we will be able to get another center through a trade, almost as if a deal is already in place. I'm excited to see what ends up happening.
Agree, he came out and plainly said were signing a free agent and trading for a center...cut and dry....I think the signing wont be earth shattering but the trade will be fairly huge. Landry+Cook+Barry For Okafor We get our center and they get a ton of cap flexibilty for next year.
That would be just gravy. Hope the 'cats are as high on Landry as they were last season. I feel like they'd want more back though. But Okafor would be a major SPLASH.
I just wish he was better than 59% on his FTs, Rockets fans have been spoiled for years having Yao's FT% like that of a PG...
Okafur would be a dream come true...he's from Houston and was a huge Rockets fan growing up and idolized the Dream. It would definitely make him happy and if he really wanted to come here I'm guessing he could talk to the Bobcats into it considering they are no where near contending...I'm guessing we'd have to add a pick or two to that proposed trade to make it happen.
The main issue might be the money we would take back as his salary does increase each year all the way to 14 million. This would limit us in the future but if we can do this and keep TMAC and Battier's contracts we can still have flexiblity. I think the Bobcats know it aint going to happen with what they have now so creating cap space might be the way to go for them.
This would be great plus the Bobcats did offer Landry a contract last year that the Rockets matched. I can't wait to find out what Morey comes with. He can do this trade, sign a FA with the MLE, and get some players for TMac.
My dream scenrio is Okafor at center but also sign Marvin Williams and finally trade TMAC for Redd and Elson, Battier and Brooks for Fernandez, Outlaw and Bayless! Lowry/Bayless Redd/Fernandez/White/Taylor Ariza/Outlaw/Budinger Williams/Scola Okafer/Hayes/Dorsey Marvin W. probably doesnt happen but you never know!
This just doesn't help the 'Cats at all. Landry isn't going to replace all-star talent like Okafor. Cook and Brent Barry? What are they going to do with that? In fact what the 'Cats need we don't have. That's a scorer so i'm looking and don't see any thing where we can help them out unless they want Tmac. Best deal I could come up with is Brooks/Battier/Barry - Okafor And that is just giving up too much for Okafor and we'd get no PG back because Bobcats love Augustin and Felton. I don't see them trading Okafor yet.
If rox do sign Marvin Williams. Then I can see a trade that offer Battier and Landry. A passing PG does not look so bad now. Or even a trade for JR Smith who JVG was just loving it during the Lakers-Nuggets Playoffs. The team could literally fly. AB, JR, Ariza, Williams and Scola.
