He could probably guard a SF, but not a SG, especially someone like Kobe. This team seems to be jinxed when it comes to injuries. Having Yao and Landry out with injuries is just to much talent to lose.
but how serious can landry's knee be? they're already saying he'll miss TWO games? it's got to be pretty bad then. otherwise they'd say it's day to day.
I always thought Mike Harris is the best of the bunches EVEN including Carl Landry back when they started out the training camp. I was surprised they cut him...but it's cool they got him back again.
Are you serious? Novak is better player to look forward to. Novak is 6'10 that is a tremendous 3 pt shooter, we're talking about mid 40 percentile for the 3 pt line. Novak just needs to improve on his defense. We could be looking at the next Dirk Nowitzki.
This is a little surprising but people shouldn't just assume that they hated Green. It is a numbers game in situations like this. They needed another big and Green was the obvious choice. It was either him or Novak and they owe Novak more money. Just because they released him doesn't mean they won't try to get him back at a later date. This signing is a good example of that. They had to let Harris go even though they probably would have rather kept him over a guy like Snyder but it was a money issue. Same thing with Chuck Hayes a couple of years ago. He obviously wasn't going to play the remainder of the year if guys like Bobby Jones can just come in off the street and take his tick immediately. Combine that with the fact that they were desperate with Landry out and unsure of how serious this injury is and you have the perfect storm. They bring in a guy they are familiar with who actually outplayed Landry in preseason, although Landry has made obvious and substantial improvement since then, but Harris can potentially contribute right away. He can board and he can score. They just couldn't afford to hold that roster spot and wait on Green with us fighting for a playoff birth.
Here's a couple of Mike Harris vids to distract you from the loss of Landry for a little bit. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/m3j8OqQFZ5g"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/m3j8OqQFZ5g" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> And I don't know what league he's playing in, in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDv-79M4NyU&feature=related
woah, Mike Harris is pretty baddass..can't wait for him to come. seems like he plays really aggressive almost like landry, but smaller, and a better penetrator.
Wow Dada, this must be like Easter, Christmas and New Years all rolled up into one for you. You got your wish. Mike Harris is now a Rocket. He's gonna be really good. A totally loaded front court with Harris/Landry/Scola/Hayes.
Novak is not tremendous, his defense is 100 times worse than mine. He only gets scrub mins and looks lost the whole time. The next Nowitzki, that was rich
Novitzski has a sweet fadeaway and face up jumper from 3 point line to close in. Novak can not fade. He is a straight up spot up 3 point specialist.
I thought that the Rockets should have dropped Snyder and kept Harris at the start of the season anyway so yay!
Back to Mike Harris: This dude clearly has some hops, a nose for the ball, and can throw it down and hit a twenty footer. I don't wanna get my expectations too high though. Not everyone can be a Landry, or even a Chuck Hayes. I hope he does well. He seems to have stuck with it and paid his dues.
Bad news for Landry and Rockets. Hope its not long term, but If it means a few games for us to get another guy to fit into this sytem and play well, it will be good for the long run. Harris is a beast and I liked him from the start. You know the dude is hungry to be in the NBA. Injuries are part of the game, so we have to go with the hand dealt to us. Get better Hammer!
