I understand your concerns but he isn't loosing any money and he isn't playing any less than what he was going to this season. If they wanted to sign him next season I'm sure they discussed the situation with him and how it was more important for the team to sign extra bigs this season. Rashard Lewis and Mike James didn't sign with houston when their contracts were up because they got much better financial offers.

No intelligent GM would offer Gerald Green much money

If they want him, they have a better chance than anyone to get him.

    (1) Snyder wasn't happy and wanted out.
    (2) Rockets saved $920,000.00 by cutting Green instead of Snyder, which is enough to sign Harris, who is going to help right way.
    (3) Not as bad as signing SF.

While I love the move, this looks like a "pick up a player to match up with Bonzi" move.

Hopefully we can re-sign Green at a later date.

As I mentioned in a different thread, this is really telling that Gerald Green's future in the NBA is up in the air. If he's getting cut in favor of guys like Bobby Jones and Mike Harris, you might do well to start looking for work elsewhere.

By the way, a small milestone for me.....

    Can he play tonight?

I don't think we can resign Green until next season.

If Harris start playing like Landry, this will be damn funny. We will be stockpiled on PG and PF.

Great move for Mike Harris. He should get his chance now to prove himself against NBA talent.

I think this means Green is definitely not a part of the Rockets plans. They could've done something else to keep him on the roster and keep his bird rights. The rox have a pretty deep roster already and will probably have to make room for whoever they get in the draft + anyone they might pick up in free agency.

Maybe they pick him back up in the offseason, but it's highly unlikely.

harris went to china to play on a CBA team, but his team lost in the semi-final round (eliminated on Jan 30, 2008), so he's been waiting for us to pick him up for some time :D

    he averaged (http://cba.sports.sina.com.cn/player_one.php?id=693)
    24.32 points,
    11.56 rebounds,
    1.24 steals,
    1.56 blocks,
    and 1.64 assists
in his 25 games played there

He wasn't cut for Bobby Jones, only Mike Harris.

You mean they could have waived someone else?

yeah! Harris back to the rockets ,nice ,very nice .

we chinese know him more than you because he have player in CBA for one season.
his strength and JS is better than landry ,whether he can shoot 3,i dont know ,in CBA ,he can ,but you know ,3 point line in NBA is more far than CBA, his bounce is good too ,maybe inferior to landry .

my worry about Harris is his defence . his defence in CBA isnt good IMO.

Technically, you're right. I'm just saying we signed and gave Bobby Jones minutes right away (in garbage time) over Green. Green got cut and Jones is still here.

If they really thought Green had a bright future they could've released Novak or even Francis.

Get rid of Bobby Jones and bring Gerald Green back.

Sucks Landry will be out for tonight. Good to have Mike Harris though.

Actually, Jones is not here either. His 10-day was up and the Rockets opted for a big body and signed PF Justin Williams.

bobby Jones was on a ten day contract that ended after the Mavs game.

Gerald was on the roster until the end of the season unless they waived him.

He was the only real option to waive at this point.

Ahhh, you're right. I wasn't aware that Jones' contract was expired. My bad.

I still think it's telling of Green's status as an NBA player if he's getting cut in favor of a guy like Harris.

That's a nice stat even if it's the CBA. Shooting percentage is 62%. Pretty good if it's mostly a long range. Good to see he goes to the line often and shooting a pretty good FT.
