is there any chance we could have a deal where we told green we would pick him back up? is that possible? hate to see him go
Wow, sucks for Green. I guess you mine as well give up his spot for somebody that can contribute right now? The kid must be heart broken. Well, I'm sure he'll want to resign with Houston next season IF the Rockets want him. I'm hoping this is one of those, "You aren't going to play much the rest of the season so we'll just release you but your welcomed back next year if you want " type "deals". Ok, so that was a reach.
thats what im thinking, cause, in reality, nobody is going to sign him, especially if he can't be on a playoff roster.
matt from the houston's radio station reported it here well, hopefully, hayes is up to the challanege. at least we get better defense.
I'm also surprised about Green. While I wasn't expecting anything out of him, I thought it was a low risk, high reward bet that would last for the season. Too bad about Landry, that's a big loss for tonight. I'm glad we got Harris though, that's as good a replacement as you're going to find right now and he's got a similar game. I've been saying it for awhile that we need to shore up our pf/c positions, and it's unpredictable situations like this that show why. Of course he's undersized, but that hasn't stopped us yet.
I hope this doesn't damage relationships with Green for contract negotiations this summer. I was really looking forward to him being a Rocket for a long time. As someone mentioned earlier, I don't know why the OP is celebrating Harris - we just found out Landry is out for the game! That's much bigger news. Pretty scary as well, I hope he's okay.
Kind of weird just cutting Green so easy. I have to think that maybe there is an under the table agreement for him to come back once our frontcourt situation is more secure, i.e. Williams' 10 day is up.
I was rather shocked as well but it really doesn't mean as much as I initially thought. Think about it, Green was not going to play this season with all of the perimeter players we have playing heavy minutes. They have seen him play in some practices, we weren't going to pay him more than a mid-level anyways, and no one can sign him this season. Pretty much nothing has changed on the Green front this season except he won't be at the games anymore. We got a look at him and can still sign him in the offseason.
By the way, can Mike Harris shoot the three? Can he be a swingman sg/sf at 6'6 but 240 lb like Artest?
good news: signed mike harris, he was very good earlier -- hopefully he can be even more of a positive now. bad news: gerald green being waived...I can't believe it, I thought he was in our long term plans. terrible news: landry is out, please don't let it be anything serious...please.
is there any chance that mike harris can play in tonights game or do they have to go through a bunch of other stuff before hand?
Love mike harris, very nervous about Landry. If this is anything more than a bruise, then god must be a lakers fan.
I saw Gerald Green and Bobby Jones drinking getting trashed together at a dive bar last night. So, this is the story.
I hope we have some under the table deal with Gerald. He only played like what 6min? he's only 22. he wants to be here. we could at least give him a chance.
