Dug out some match photos of Stephen Graham when he was still a Spurs in the preseason. He did decent in his match in the preseasons against the Rockets ( Rockets beat Spurs 95 vs 87). He scored 9 points (3/4 FG% 1/2 3-pointer% 2/2 FT%)/1 rebound/1 assist/1 turnover/1 steal/3 personal foul in 26 minutes of play.
Man, this guy is built like a tank. Thanks for the photos. If he can be an "energy guy" off the bench and just add a little more athleticism than Bowen, then this guy would be a nice addition. Just give this guy some minutes to show off his hustle and hopefully he can hit a couple of shots to keep him in the rotation. It would be nice for once to find someone from the CBA and have them make a difference. It would be nice to find some YOUNG role players that can be contributors and grow with the team!
He's kind of built like Artest, and I think they're the same height... Don't know about his skills though but at least we know he's not a mental case.
I follow OSU basketball and am very excited about the Stevie Graham signing. The scouting report posted by saintja2 earlier is spot on to what I have seen of Stevie. He is the younger of the two twins and has lived in his brother's shadow his whole life. The lack of confidence the writer speaks of in the report is exactly what I saw at OSU and exactly why Eddie Sutton didn't play Stevie much. Everyone who has seen Stevie play says the same thing "I think he is better than his brother", Stevie is the only one who isn't so sure. My take on the difference between the two is Stevie is a wing with the ability to play 2G at times where Joey is a wing with the ability to play PF at times. Basically, if Stevie's time in the CBA has givin him confidence in himself then we may be very blessed to have him on our team. He has NBA tallent I just don't know if he will ever realize it.
You could also say he is built exactly like a Jerome Kersey from the old blazers. Young, hungry and athletic. Hopefully he sticks.
Thanks for the take. Maybe we're seeing one of the "feel good" stories of the young season. Let's hope so, and if he sticks CD will look damn good again. Man, the guy is built like a tank!
Let's see, Joey is the more talented twin while Stephen is probably thrilled to be in the league. I say we pull the old bait and switch/parent trap move and send Stephen to Tor for a trip to see his bro (wink wink) and have Joey get on the return flight home. Toronto would be none the wiser other than their first round pick suddenly lost his game and our scrub CBAer is playing like a first rounder. Stephen gets to play in the league for a few years, they aint gonna cut a first rounder no matter how bad, we get first round talent on league minimum payscale. It's the least Joey can do for his bro. We would then reward Joey for his service when we have his Bird rights. Works out well for everyone involved.
The biggest problem with this is that JVG is not the kind of coach who intills confidence in a player.....he does the opposite, the only way to thrive under JVG is if you have confidence already....ala Tmac and Luther Head. Otherwise, JVG will destroy you. DD
The guy has physical ability, he is a good guy to check out. Longshot of course (maybe 15% chance of sticking), but more upside than Glover or Hayes so why not give him a good look.
Oklahoma State with John Lucas son he does have to athleticism and fundametals we are looking for I think with the waving of Dion Glover that this is a better pick than Charles Hayes
It's funny that this is the sentiment now, whereas a few games ago it was 'we need to change ****, starting from the top'
