This is the stuff that truly tests your homerism. Should we call in and let the cops know the guy has resurfaced? Remember, the guy shot 9 for 12 in that game in LA.

Well, the description says he's got "D on right hand". Obviously the Rockets were looking for more defense and got it!

... but only on one hand...

The guy can't hold a job, and he's jumped bail. Should we call the Fall Guy? He sounds like he can play.

Hey guys. I kinda remember Oscar Torres from the summer games. He is built, and has a big body kind of like ron artest from the bulls. Actually the more I think about it he kinda reminds me of mario elie offensively(IMO).

From what I remember he could really shoot it from 3pt range and is very aggressive attacking the basket, he's not afraid of going strong on a bigger player or even two. He has many flashy dunk moves(one hand alley oop, two hand reverse, etc...). He's very athletic and runs well, looks to run everytime down the court for a fastbreak.

Torres seems like a player that lets his game do the talking for him, doesn't tant or talk trash, looks like a professional, confident but quite. From what I remember he didn't seem to try and do too much or show off, he could of scored more but I don't think he was looking or trying to. Besides the last game where he was in a zone(looked like everything when in for him in that game, even this shot were he was falling out of bounce behind the basket and he just threw it up high and it just fell in smooth, like the shot AI took in the begining of the 2001 all-star game), he really passed up alot of shots in the other games. As for defense, sorry I can't remember any at all.

Honestly though I think S. Colson is more skilled but I think the rockets really brought Torres on as insurance for mobley rather than the true backup at SG and since we don't have anyone 6-5 to 6-7 in size to match up.

Sounds to me like the Rockets want insurance. If Cat gets injured then steve plays the 2 and Moochie 1 and this guys on the bench, if steve goes down Moochie slides in and there is still a guard on the bench. If he can guard and shoot a little I say give him a shot.

Am I the only one who finds the picture of the criminal Oscar Torres to be beyond the bounds of good taste? It is ethnically insensitive.

Why glynch, are all latinos criminals? Or does this specific guy named Oscar Torres happen to be latino and happen to be a criminal?

Achebe, from your other posts you don't seem to be a redneck. I bet if we had signed an unknown black player and someone put up the mug shot of a black criminal with the same name and everyone had fun with it, it would be seen as insensitive by many on the board. Certainly this type of behaviour would not be tolerated in the work place. If you really don't get it, what can I say.

If Steve goes down and Moochie refuses to sign up with us,Mobley will have to move at the point, and Torres will come off the bench at the 2,behind Walt Williams or Langhi.

Don't underestimate me. I'm from South Carolina.

glynch, I'll take your concerns to heart. Perhaps you're right and there's something inappropriate about our joking, though I don't see it.

I do have the concern... though... about your concerns that some person is automatically off limits b/c of a tangential fact of ethnicity. It seems to imply that there's something inappropriate about even being latino or black. As a white male, I know noone would have questioned my posting a link about a white male on the lose.... it would have been seen as the weak attempt at humor that it was/is (i.e. "who are we signing?!?").

So now political correctness has racistly applied bounds on my freedom of speech. PC looks to the ethnicity of one primate (me) to derive the meaningfulness of it's utterances about some other primate (Oscar Torres). That's racist.

It might be pragmatic... but that's racist.

Achebe, you could be right also. Perhaps the type of thing that would seem ok in person, with facial expressions etc.. I agree let's try to not be so pc we can't use humor. Believe it or not the World Trade thing probably made me more pc thatn usual. I'm finished.

Hey, Clutch, put this in another forum! before it gets out of hand.
