I'd be upset if they signed for any more than the minimum but these are low risk, potentially high reward signings. They'll get more open looks just due to having a better team around them.
Was just thinking about him after Anthony Morrow signed with the Pelicans. Both of these guys entered the league as a part of Nellie's crazy ass D-League shooter squad in 2009-10. Now it would not surprise me at all of the Rockets go after a third member of that group: Anthony Tolliver.
The beauty of it is Morey is not really banking on any of these guys in particular. If not he just cuts them and tries again with very little lost.
Morey and Co. must see this as worthwhile. A guy who plays atrocious "D" seems like a guy to avoid though. Essentially 1 year deal (2 year, 2nd year team option), so this part is right. I hoped for better. But maybe I need to realize what kind of guys will play for the minimum on a one year deal. We are not a Heat magnet yet.....
Williams... Casspi... Garcia... Parsons... I guess this means the Rockets aren't going after Nick Young or Wesley Johnson.
These are all streaky shooters...we haven't actually acquired sharpshooters, but that's why they are all small and short deals. Morey knows the ray allens and mike millers will come,, once the team proves it can contend.
Based on Reggie and Omri's 3-pt % last year, it appears we are trying to create a lot of offensive rebounds for Dwight -- innovative!
Just from watching youtube he is a bit of a poor man's Harden. He looks like he can create his own offense as opposed to garcia Casspi or basically anyone not named Harden or Lin. I guess Morey think he can get back to 42% shooting behind the arc and not the 30% he has shown the last 2 years. On paper I am not crazy about him but in all sincerity I trust Morey these days.
Reggie Williams was good in his first season, averaging 15.2ppg on 49 percent he shot 42 percent from the line last season.......but only had 21 total free throws, usually a 70 percent free throw guy. he can light up the scorers list from time to time
I agree. Banking was too strong a word. These are minimum signings, both with team options. If they work out, great. If not, decline the team option and move on.
