I don’t think so. People around here act like KPJ was some kind of giant draft investment. Dude was a late draft pick that the Rockets got off the scrap iron. People need to come to grips that he probably isn’t a franchise cornerstone and isn’t a PG. If he ends up being your 6th man, it’s still a big win for the rockets. And no one is dumping a #2 overall draft pick who will be 21 in 2 yrs just keep accumulating talent, roles with figure themselves out
I think between Nix, KPJ, Christopher and Green 3 of the 4 players will emerge and take up all the backcourt minutes for a long time since all of them are on team friendly contracts. It's going to be a tough decision for sure, I can see all of them becoming good to great players.
I don't think the investment matters - eventually it is just who can play the best and you trade the other.... DD
I guess my point is, people are expecting too much out of KPJ. By investment I mean expectations. You are expecting a lot more from a #2 overall pick, than a late round draft pick. If Jalen isn't a 20+ppg scorer in the near future, that would be disappointing. Whereas you've already gotten more out of KPJ than you would have expected. Him coming off the bench is more than fine with me. I don't think there is any NEED to trade one of them when they could just have their minutes staggered or one of them simply isn't a starter. My expectation of the 2 of them is not the same or same role ultimately. I also don't think either of them are playing in roles suited for them at the moment either. There is still a lot to figure out imo
