This reminds me of when the Rockets signed Sedale Threatt at about this time back in '97. He was horribly out of shape, and would get winded running down the floor just once.
Hey did anyone notice how fast they updated the official Rocket's webpage to include Mark Jackson's signing (not to mention a whole bio and photo gallery section)? It must have been basically a done deal for a while now. I just hope he brings a "positive" leadership influence on the team...
If that was the guy y'all was referring to, his name is Marc Jackson with a "C' and I know because I think he played for Temple? Anyway, I don't think it will be a good idea if the Rockets did sign him. He hasn't been a proven rebounder or a PF and he probably isn't even in the best condition to play up to his abilities. Last thing the rockets need is another inconsistent power forward.
Wow. from what I heard on 610 last night they weren't sure if he was in good enough shape to play because of his age and being out of the NBA for so long. I hope he can contribute.
I'll be interested to see if Mark Jackson can feed the post. If he can consistently get Yao the ball, where he likes it, he's worth the money. Let's see what he brings before we knock the signing. My 2 cents.
You think there's still time to sign Charles Oakley and John Starks? What's Charles Smith and Anthony Mason doing now?
First we had one Griffin. Then we had two. Now none is playing. First we have one Jackson. Then we have two. . . .
well at least we have a 2nd string point guard now entering his 20th nba season .... so how he plays we'll have to see. not expecting double doubles from this guy, but lets see if he does his job backing up steve and making this team better as a whole.
I thought that we tried to sign a Mark Jackson before, or was that Marc Jackson. Anyway, finally we, cough JVG cough, got our man.
As long as he's in good shape towards the end of the season, we're fine. I think he still needs to go through 3 or 4 practices, followed by 10 or so games, and then he'll be able to contribute off the bench. I really like a bench rotation that includes Mark Jackson, Boki, Pike, and MoT. These guys will benefit from the easy shots they'll get.
By doing that we wouldn't have had enough money via the MLE to get Jim Jackson. Who would you rather have? Don't forget that Ollie got Moochie money.
