Matt Haryasz will play exactly 26 minutes during the 2006-07 season. In the final two minutes of a game, if the score is within two points and the opposing team is shooting free throws, Haryasz will be brought in to stand within six feet of the shooter and turn his back so that his name is clearly visible.

i watched a lot of pac 10 ball (since im an UA grad) but he isnt a bad player. Physically limited and hasnt fully developed yet, but he does know how to work around the basket on offense. Doubt he'll make the team, but a big man with some skill always has a chance

Well, their new marketing slogan seems to be "Eyes on the Prize"

Except that Clyde should be fired, is Jon Barry gonna replace him? Bullard sucked, but he was Bob Costas compared to Clyde. I even down with bringing Van Chance back at least its funny when he mispronounces names. I can't wait to hear Jon Barry do the pro-mo for "The Parkers", heeeey.

I was actually in school while Haryasz was there. While he probably is nothing more than camp fodder, he could be an intriguing pick-up if he makes the team. He grew up in a really small town (Page, AZ) and didn't really know how to play when he started at Stanford. However, he's surpisingly athletic (much more so than Bowen, at least) and improved by leaps and bounds in college, once he got some decent coaching. While there's no guarantee he will keep improving, he could potentially become a good back-up PF--good shot-blocking instincts, decent rebounder, a few low-post moves. He certainly needs to get a lot stronger. Oh, and it's pronounced Hairy-azz. Don't know if that's better or worse. :p

I really liked what I saw of Haryasz in Summer camp. He appeared to have a real nose for the ball along with boundless energy. These attributes along with his size could certainly help the Rockets. He would add another dimension to our front court.

;) Haryaze will likely be in the D-League after the Preseason is done.

I don't think we'll see anyone volunteer for the "President of the Matt Haryasz Fan Club" or the "I love Haryasz" as much as we saw after signing Luther; too bad. Maybe when it gets colder here in Houston. It's still to hot to have Haryasz on the bench to heat things up. :)

I would not bring Van Chan back. He sucked way worse than Bullard, and sounded like an idiot all the time. What they need to do is bring back Calvin.

Is anyone else curious about watching Haryasz riding pine this season?

Van Chan is a good ole boy from Miss-ii-pi. I could listen to him talk about eating catfish all day. :D Come on man Van is the definition of colorful.

I thought he did a good job because of his knowledge of the game he had good comments on what adjustments the Rockets needed to make to counter the opponents game plan.
