Damn, when I feel like I have to go to D&D to escape the negativity, I know the GARM is rounding slowly into regular season shape.
Who gives a f*** what his height is? It's not like this is some unproven rookie new to the NBA. We know he can play and what he brings to the table already.
I can’t believe y’all are discussing the height of an 8th year vet. Good lord. We’re past the “debate players’ heights” point of the rebuild.
Yes he is short, yes he is not quick, but he is smart, and can protect the ball and he can help show our younger players how to be more productive. FVV is not a good athlete, not a great shooter, not great at much, TBH, but his grit, and hustle along with bball smarts has allowed him to get everything out of what talent he has, and some of our more physically gifted guys need to learn how to do that so they can reach their ceiling. FVV is at his, he is not going to get much better than he already is, but his steady hand will help a lot....in the clubhouse and when he is gone in 2 years, he will be a role player on someone else's team. He smartly took the money. DD
Is it wasn’t $40m from us it would have been $30m+ from Toronto. No matter how many times you try repeat this narrative that he is some overachieving role player it still doesn’t make it any more true, by the numbers. So let’s wait until the season starts when you get to watch him for more than the handful of times you have ever seen him to make any further judgements.
I am not saying he wouldn't have gotten 30m from Toronto, that is fine, I am saying he is a nice steady hand. I know who he is, have watched him for years, he was a decent backup to Lowry during their championship run, can hit some 3s, is a plus defender with real grit...... I like him - just don't love him. If he is great, I will love it, if he is average, I will still like him, if he sucks - I will not be happy. DD
Mostly agreed, the thing about him is that he is setting the table for others or that has been advertised so far. I would want to see that more than him taking shots. I think Toronto had some promising shooters, a lot of veteran big wings that the Rockets do not have. Jabari counts as a gigantic big that plays like a wing. Toronto is the situation where they had good players, even 1 or 2 All Stars but still mediocre outcome. Without a clear superstar, the floor is raised but the ceiling is still limited.
He is not a set the table guy, he is not a pass first pg, he is a combo guard, with better ball protection and defense than what we had. DD
