This seems like a reasonable signing. Boykins is a short, 2nd string point guard who is 35 years old - the fact that the league seems to have a high number of available (younger and taller) PGs probably explains why he hadn't already been signed this season.

Good mentality Earl! There's no way Shaq can keep up with your agility.

You gotta love Boykins. This guy is listed at 5'5, so he's probaly actually 5'4/3. Lol, just kidding but I'm excited to watch Earl. How good do you think Earl would be if he was 6'2? :D

i think we aren't really looking for a true pg...we were looking for someone who can score and handle the ball/create a bit...off the bench.

    Boykins can def bring that.

You do notice that Dragic guy on the Rockets roster, no? He is only out there 40 minutes a game.

who cares whether earl boykins is a pg or sg in a small pg body....the point is, at the end of the day he can put the ball in the hoop and create something out of nothing.

that will be an important piece coming off the bench because currently with injuries/sickness to martin and lowry, we have nobody coming of the bench that is giving us a true spark.

Don't think Allen would come off the bench:

Wiki says he can bench press 315 lbs, well over 2x his listed weight. That is just bananas, y'all.

Dude also looks like beetlejuice from the Howard Stern Show.

Was Fisher never going to play here under any circumstances? Does Lowry's illness retroactively make the Rockets second guess the buyout in any way?

Hell no. I'd rather have Boykins who wants to be here play 5-10 minutes/game than pay Fish $3.5M next year.

Man, i care cuz i worried about the mismatch he's going to present for us on the other side of the floor when he's a defender.

Well he had a nice defensive +/- for Milwaukee last year- http://www.82games.com/1011/10MIL1.HTM

He is crafty, strong and fairly quick. Can get his hands on the ball, get into the passing lanes and be a pest. Averaged 0.7 steals in 15 minutes per game last year. Not great but solid.

Keep in mind, this is a guy who has gone up against bigger players his entire life. I'm sure he is smart enough to know how to be effective on that end.
