    LOL

Damon Jones isn't anywhere near as good as he thinks he is. He's a prototypical journeyman.

Instead of concentrating on what Damon Jones said or what he thinks, let's look at what he actually did on the court in comparision to Moochie.

    min/g: Norris 20.2, Jones 19.9 - pretty even

ppg: Norris 6.6, Jones 6.5 - pretty even

Shots/minute: Norris .25, Jones .29 - Norris shot just slightly less often, but that expected since Jones also played minutes at the 2 guard. Jones might fancy himself to be a shooter, but Moochie isn't bashful either.

    Ast/game: Norris 3.5, Jones 3.2 - pretty close

Ast/TO ratio: Norris 2.64, Jones 2.94 - I was surprised that Jones had a better assist to TO ratio.

    FG% - Norris .446, Jones .409 - Norris had a better FG%, but that's not too surprising since 231 of Jones 416 total shots were 3 pointers (only 89 of Moochie's 413 shots were 3's).

    3pt% - Norris .281, Jones .364

Based on those numbers, I'd have a hard time justifying paying Norris two to three times (or more) what Jones will cost.

As a die-hard fan of the former Southwest Conference, I can honestly say that we picked the wrong Houston-area guard to back up Franchise. Damon Jones wasn't half the player that Adam Peakes was at Rice.

Anyone heard anything about Peakes lately? he still playing in the CBA or Europe?

Sounds like Allen Iverson, but not Allen Iverson.

Ok, how about walking the walk, Behad? It takes a real man to leave a diss and run.

Jones put up those numbers on the Grizz though.

    Setting the record straight:

    Swopa

" ... So are you saying that Jones's contract is not guaranteed?..."

No not at all. It likely has some guarantees, especially if he works himself into a slot, which is possible.

I think they gave Damon a good contract but it is either long and not guaranteed, or it is short and partially guaranteed. The most likely scenario is they have talked convincingly with him, and they asked him to camp for a reason. This is NOT a last minute decision on CD/RT's part.

The point I was trying to make was that all of these 'signings" makes it look like a wholesale fattening of the Rockets roster. But dang this is done by all teams and done every year at this time. This summer may have a little more intensity and a little more media attention, because some of these guys may be kept and sent to the development league by the Rockets.

So, yes Damon is the cream of what has recently been signed to the practice squad. Yes it puts Mooch in a poorer advantageous position. But all of these signings are only as solid as the frequency of the term "guaranteed" is used in relation to them.

I will post something later today on Mooch ... something that has developed since yesterday.

I don't know if anyone remembers this but last year ESPN did a feature on the Grizzlies where they followed them on a long east coast road trip. It really exposed how unprofessional the team was, ie partying all night after losing big. In fact I remember there was an off day in Atlanta I think and Damon Jones flew to the friggin Bahamas. He flew back the day of the game in Atlanta and of course the Grizz got whacked again. I would seriously question Damon's dedication to winning after I saw that.
