His doctor said in an interview that his knee was not "bone on bone". He said he has very little cartilage wear. So that's not the issue.

Chuck Hayes signed a non-guaranteed deal. This probably isn't going to be a long-term signing.

He might just be temporary help until D-Mo gets back and then he will be waived.

We haven't seen Chuck play in 5 years.
Realistically its very likely he's going to go out there and get annihilated by Whiteside and Bosh; all the while being a complete non-threat on offense.

Don't see how this signing is going help our poor defense to start the season.

Is McHale even going to play him?

Is he even in game shape?

We have the right talent already, these guys need a focused veteran that busts their asses.
He's there to give us the hustle mentality and defense.

Defense is more of an issue for this team IMO. Their offense will come once they can establish some chemistry between Ty Lawson and the MVP runner up Harden. Signing a veteran big who is a defensive specialist that can throw his body around against guys like LaMarcus Aldridge and Draymond Green is huge. And his mentoring of Capela, Harrell, Jones and DMO can't be overlooked as all those players are still so very young.

The biggest thing working against Chuck is the stronger officiating against physical play in the post. After the no 2 hand check rule at around 2011 there was also stricter policing of post play. Chuck used his frames low center of gravity to offset the taller guys in hip guarding and whatnot. Go back and look at the footage. Then he was able to do that at Sactown or Toronto.

At least something positive in the midst of this rubbish start. Chuck Hayes stands for hard work, leadership and defense so it cannot hurt. Welcome back Chucky!!

I'm very happy to have him back. Hope he helps some of our players with their attitudes.

I agree, if our team took on that mentality it would be for the better.

Don't know what kind of voice he'd be in the locker room though, it's not like he has rings to show for it.

Would Boozer have been okay with being the 15th man on this roster and being inactive or getting little to no minutes each game?

Also, he doesn't seem like a positive locker room influence. Otherwise, he'd probably have a job right now.

Its been several years since I've seen him on the court, but you have to look past the boxscore. He brings the hustle, passion, and the technical details on defense that a lot of guys on this team lack. He has almost no offense, but he makes up for that with solid defense. Hands in the face defense, drawings charges, the feet, and the fight. A lot guy here think its only about offense. Chuck believes defense wins. That why some are excited to have him back. We lack solid big men, we lack that toughest. I'm for one am happy to see here, even in the limited minutes he'll get. Maybe his heart will rub off on some of these so called superstars.....

Goofy signing. Doesn't improve outside shooting, free throw shooting or overall speed. So why?

His locker room presence alone is worth the contract, plus the defense at the 4 would be our best.

He would not have to worry about that with DMo being injured and Dwight limited play in regards to back to back
