This isn't a surprise to me. Chris Johnson has been part of the Vipers organization many times over the years. He's extremely consistent and you know what you're going to get from him as a result. I'm sure he's been as friendly with the Rockets as he has been to RGV management. However, this strikes me as a practice squad hiring. The Rockets may need one extra quality player that knows the systems they use and also have someone they can trust because he's been trustworthy for several years now.
