Considering our injury situation, not a bad move. I agree that he's here because of his familiarity with JVG's system. So he should mix in well. The biggest positive I see in this move is the protection of Yao. If Oakley can get guys off of Yao's back by dishing out some of the beating himself, he just might be worth it. On the other hand, with him and MJ on the court, this might be the slowest team in the NBA.
Trust me, this guy will NOT screw up. This is possibly his last chance to be a contributor on a team with promise, he is a professional NBA player and I applaude the aquisition.
Well IF MO is really injurged long term, som1 from the bench is going to have to pick it up on the offensive end becuase thats 11+ points right there.
What if Weatherspoon is the one with the serious injury? if Mo was hurt for a long time wouldn't they have picked up a scorer?
11 News he is reported that he is practicing with the team right now so it looks to be a done deal.. This is not a bad deal assuming Mo is going to miss some time. Oakley will bring some toughness over, hopefully some will carry over to Yao and if that happens than this will be a great signing. I like this signing but I wonder why can JVG find any talent other than former knicks?
Remember what Charles Oakley did in Chicago and Washington? Absolutely nothing. Oh he did act like a cancer in the locker room. The guy is well done. He's finished. I don't think that he can help this team.
LOL. Remember that commercial with all the retired athletes? (I don't even remember what they were selling.) They should make a Rockets commercial featuring all the retired Knicks talking about the bright prospect of becoming a Rocket.
So, uh, how quick does a team have to be to run a half-court offense? The playoffs are traditionally a half-court game.
So assuming this is true... Why? Couldn't we have gotten some tall scrub from the NBA DL or the CBA, or pulled in that guy we drafted this year from europe or something? What do we expect from a 6-9 guy who will be slow, overweight, and can't jump? Just to put it in perspective: Last season he played 12 minutes a night and only 42 games because of injuries (and just being old) The last three seasons he shot .388, .369 and .418. It's one thing when a PG shoots this bad, but a PF? The only thing he might be good for is to pull down a few rebounds and hit people, but wouldn't a younger guy have done this better without risking the bad chemistry?
And we can pull Ewing out of retirement too. Be careful with what you wished for. You might just get it. hahaha I do like John Stark's game.
