You guys all said this about Weatherspoon when he came, and now you all love him.

Give me a break, guys. Chill.

    Interesting

Just how many power forwards do the Rockets have now?

    I'm losing count :D

Did someone have to go on IR for this?

If so, I bet it was Boki

Heh, I am listening to 610 right now and some caller called in and reminded us that fight he had with Barkley a few years back.

As for my opinion about the signing? Not bad at all. Just want to know the status of injuries to Mo and Spoon.

How old is Oakley? Does anyone know what kind of shape he's in?

    A couple things...

First, I don't think Oakley can be eligible for the postseason roster. Players waived after March 1 are ineligible; I would think the same would apply to roster pickups after March 1, no?

With all the trouble JVG has had getting certain players to fit in to his style of coaching, wouldn't it make sense to only pick up players midseason who won't have a huge adjustment period? That seems to be the common denominator to me. None of the FA acquisition over the summer (JJax, Pike, Adrian Griffin) had played for JVG before.

I don't remember saying Weatherspoon was a thug that I've taken delight in hating for 10 years.

Is John Starks available by any chance??

    What about Derek Harper???

I am sure Buck Williams can be had for the vet minimum.

Surely GrandMaMa has something left in the tank.

Actually, I think you can use late pickups in the postseason as long as they had been waived before 3/1. So, assuming we signed him for the rest of the year, he might go to the playoffs with us.

Good point. You're probably right. What about players adjusting to one another?

Can he pass the ball into Yao? He might be worth it if he can.

The part about Taylor's injury possibly being more serious is what really worries me. Does this mean that Yao is now our ONLY real low post threat (besides whatever Spoon can throw in)? I think we may end up seeing Yao double and triple teamed even more than before (if that's possible)...

I wouldn't mind GrandMaMa right now if his back was holding up.

I think it would matter since they didnt get Oak from waivers. I think the same situation last year with the Pacers signing Tim Hardaway like a few games before the season ended. Since he wasnt with another team through the season, he should be eligble.

On a side note Bullard just said on 610

"Guys like Shaq, he shoots free throws everyday, but he still sucks as...." :D

I think Clutch has it. The next pick up will be the Statue of Liberty.

    hell yeah. :D

no more 6'3" guys bowing amare in the throat. oakley would have knocked amare's arse down immediately after the dunk and then would have knocked yao down for allowing it.

    good move jvg... good move.

allan new york should be next.

I just hope this is a short-term contract. We really need some cap room in the off season.

ah, excellent point. I stand corrected. Oakley does have plenty of Finals experience (Bulls, Knicks).

I think with JVG and Ewing in the lockerroom, Oakley won't be a complete idiot.

We were playing Adrian Griffin significant minutes at the 4 against Phoenix because MoT and Spoon were out. We can use another big body and Oak is at least a big body with experience playing for JVG.
