Larry Bird without the shooting, rebounding, passing and intangibles

    They couldn't wait forever.

I'm still shocked that absolutely NOTHING happened yesterday.

At this point, I'm curious to see where Dalembert ends up.

another inexperienced player snagged up by Morey…

this shows we aren't trying to be competitive this year… he made his trade, got shot down, and now he is like Eff it, we're playing the yungins and see what top 5 pick i can get…

If he does do that, i'd rather him package scola and martin up for either a young talent or more draft picks.. We already have 2 for 2012 so why not add more in a deep draft..

Scola and Martin would likely go to contenders at their respective salaries and age. This means they would be likely traded for very late first rounders. I am pretty sure they are worth more than that. However, I wouldn't mind a young talent for the two, I just don't know who would bite.

Um no. Teams must offer contracts to drafted players who attend their training camp. The other option is to waive him.

Are we still going to have cap room to sign Dalembert?

Great signing. Look at how awesome Budinger's contract has turned out. I love these cheap 4 year deals that have very little cap hits...

3.7 for four years? Isn't that super cheap? Can he opt out in his third year?

That seems pretty high for a 2nd rounder, I thought they usually signed for around 500-700k/year, but I could be wrong. Either way, I welcome young blood.

Maybe after the Paul debacle by the NBA Les has realized the Rockets may be best served rebuilding. Dalembert brings them 2-3 more wins, but is that really in the teams best interest?

You do realize that the contract is basically 4 years at minimum/near-minimum, right? The only downside to it is that the Rockets have to guarantee quite a bit of the money. While normal 2nd rounders on other teams tend to get much less guaranteed money.

It's double the minimum but I guess that's the price that has to be paid for him to agree to two team options on a 4 yr deal.

Didn't explain that too clearly. It's a higher than rookie minimum. But comparable to veteran minimum. Either way he's not going to hurt us cap wise compared to insert-random-scrub that a team needs to fill the roster with.
