Honestly, I think the Rockets could use somone with a mean streak in them. Last year guys would drive to the hole with no fear...insert you bruiser in there too toughen things up a bit and maybe guys will think twice before taking off. I thought a problem with last years squad was their softness on defense. Nice guys never win.
You couldn't be more wrong, he isn't a criminal or anything, but on the court, he is a hot head. Maybe he has calmed down since his college days.
I went to high school with Gabe. We shared quite a few classes over the four year period. I also was fortunate enough to watch him while at UT. Good pick up.
I went to college with his brother and took classes from his Father his dad actually makes Differential Equations funny I like his hardnose game [even before i knew his kinfolx] He does remind me of KT I think he has a meaner streak Rocket River KT will have a break out year
If Wilks makes the active roster, it looks like we will start the season with a lot of guards and small forwards. Only four "power" players; Yao, Cato, Griffin, Taylor. Which is okay, I guess, until injuries set in. Will we keep a 13th man to sit the IR?
Gabe is pretty good, nowhere near the best longhorn ever. He tned to make bonehead mistakes, however he does hustle and play very physical. Plus he led teh NBDL in scoring one season I believe.
Gabe was a hustler with a nice touch in college. He is a hardworker, and I hope that me makes it. We should be so lucky.

Would Muoneke be more of a 3 or a 4? Tweener, I guess? Seems like he would be a Kenny Thomas sort + feistiness?

I think Gabe actually got worse during his time at UT. He actually made a comment about how he hadn't progressed compared to his peers coming out of high school.
Like who? Mike LeBlanc? Jake Voskul is the only one who made it in the league. Gabe and Mike were Co-POY in Houston their Senior Year. Gabe got shafted with the All-American status. Never forget when LeBlanc put one down on Gabe... damn, those games vs Jesuit were unreal. Strait Jesuit had: Voskul, LeBlanc, Calvin Murphy Jr, that guy who went to Wake Forest, and some sick white point guard... Cy-Falls had: Gabe, Kelton Smith (played real well at HBU)... I am interested to see Gabe play, he just needs to be in a system that he feels comfortable with and I think he will be able to contribute.
class of 97 here... funny side story about how i feel old.. was up in college station for the game on saturday and was at the Tap and got to talking to a bartender.. turns out she went to cy-falls.. i was like no way me too.. i say class of 97.. she goes... OH I was class of 03! damn i am getting old.
Dang, Gabe's little bro Ike is on my varsity team, hes a monster too, not as tall but vicious but from what he says about gabe, weve got a physical presence now. I can probably get some info from him on whats goin on.
