Best case scenario is in 7-8 years he progresses from historically / all-time bad shooter to just a really bad shooter, but he'll always be an historically bad finisher.

Anyway I agree that the thread should die.

Imagine if another team has a fanbase that is obsessed with our 7th best player (let's say Pat Bev), and every time their is any kind of rumor that the Rockets are going to sign, trade, move, etc. anyone their fanbase gets all worked up because they COULD SCORE Pat Beverley, and turn around their franchise?

This thread is seriously an embarrassment.

Rubio as a rookie playing with scrubs and punking Durant, Westbrook, and Harden.

I say this in all seriousness.

Give Rubio a 40% three point shot and decent finishing around the rim and he has the potential to be one of the best PGs of all time. Great vision and passing, size, above average rebounder, above average defender.

As is, he puts up pretty solid stats despite the bad shooting and relatively low usage (probably associated with the bad shooting).

    But he's a bad shooter.

D'Antoni should have a VERY clear understanding of whether or not having a liability of a shooter like Rubio can be masked or not in his offense and whether it's worth that risk given Rubio's other skills.

As I've said repeatedly, my guess is MDA won't think it worth the risk.

Have you heard of Tracy McGrady? Boy you're going to fall in love instantly with his athleticism.

And some say, he has yet to learn how to shoot to a mediocre degree.

Yeah I think people saying he isn't a good basketball player is off, saying he's a 7th man is off.

I think Rubio could potentially be our 2nd best player if he were to come to Houston (who's better? Anderson?). You don't have to be a good scorer to be a good player, his defense and passing is elite.

There's no question Rubio is a better basketball player than anybody on this roster outside of Harden. It's not even close.

    Who cares?

He is a 5 year veteran and he has never shot higher than 38% from the floor.
He has never shot higher than 39% from within the arc.
He is a career 32% shooter from three.
He has a career TS% of under 50.
He has missed an average of 33% of games played.
He has a career Win share % of .09!

If by some chance Thibs gets sick of Rubio and the Rockets trade feces (Brewer and a case of VD) for him then fine. However he isn't anything special and never will be unless he learns to shoot open shots. I have given up on him ever being able to create for himself.

of course they will keep him and that is the reality. minnesota needs all the marketing they can get I dont see them trading or letting him walk. minnesota is dumb like that though.

I dream of this guy on our team. im not a ROF but I woukd watch every damn game if he was in there.

we are talking jogo bonito stuff. one can only hope

A real chance that he is dealt because the Wolves have Dunn, LeVine and Jones. Also Thibs offense is designed to get scoring from the point guard position.

Right now there is a logjam at that position and Thibs will likely move the player he doesn't see as a fit.

They should. They really should trade Dunn and Lavine for a young superstar at the 2/3 or 4/5 and leave Rubio in place to feed them. Hopefully they trade him to us instead.

I actually don't really believe Thibs offense is "designed" to get scoring from the PG. Thibs offense definitely was designed to accomodate Derrick Rose, if that's what you mean....

I don't see them moving Rubio because his salary is a bargain. He has elite vision, plays elite defense, out-rebounds his position.

If he could just shoot at even a league average rate (35% from 3), he's a top 10 pg in the NBA. He's only 25 years old. You guys remember Lowry at 25 years old??? You guys remember when Lowry couldn't shoot?

and Rubio is much better at 25 than Lowry was.
