While this is true, it's not really a fair representation of his efficiency as a scorer. He also shot the most free throws last season as he has in his entire career while increasing his percentage to nearly 85 percent from the line. When you factor in his free throws, he actually posted a 52.9% TS% last season. That's not great, but it's competent for a guard and certainly not as bad as his 37.1% FG% would indicate.

Let me find that real quick. In the meantime though do you want me to also provide Rubio's turnover rate as well?

Also, since you're in a giving mood right now, can you give me that insight you promised me last week when you said you didn't have time to answer my query because you were too busy prepping for draft night?

His free throw attempts went from 3.2 per game in 2015 to 4.1 this past season. As for makes, he went from 2.6 in 2015 to 3.5 this past season. In other words, he added a whole .9 points to his points per game total.

Who cares? You don't add someone like Rubio because he can score points. You add him because he's an overall asset as a basketball player, and he can help make your offense more dynamic. And my point isn't that his increased free throws somehow make him more of a scoring threat. It's that he's made a huge step in the right direction in terms of his scoring efficiency.

Rubio is essentially a (very) poor man's Jason Kidd. By comparison, Kidd topped 17 PPG only one time in his entire career and had a career 50.7% TS% in his career, which is atrocious. Are you going to tell me that Kidd didn't make his basketball teams better because he couldn't score?

Rule of thumb. When you have a player that is only good on offense in mostly ISO situations and he is considered your star player, having a floor general PG isnt the best option

I say this jokingly when I said time to close this thread. If you guys want to keep dreaming of overpaying for Rubio when he doesn't fit this team then go right ahead

Rubio had hist best 3pt season this year, it's amazing how people watch percentages like a hawk but totally forget about volume. He hit 62 threes in 76 games which at .325 percent isn't horrible, it certainly isn't good but it's on the verge of becoming respectable if he can just do a little better.

His FG percentage is a bit more concerning, he isn't 10 more makes and 2% away from having a respectable FG%, he's off about 40 maked and 7% from being respectable, 3% from not being laughable.

Because of injuries he's only played under 3.5 seasons worth of gamed in the nba, I believe he can still make improvement, especially on a new team. Maybe not drarastic improvement, but if he can elevate his shooting to respectale he would really propel him self into a very good player.

I agree that having a PG who can shoot, play defense and play a little more off the ball would be ideal. But aside from Conley, what guys out there do you see that fit that mold? Also, I think having multiple playmakers is going to be key in D'Antoni's offense. The Lawson experiment didn't work, but how much of that was Harden, and how much of that was him underperforming in an unstructured mess of an offense that the Rockets ran last season?

I fail to see how having a mediocre 3-point shooter that never shoots threes will help.

One of the major problems with the team last year was that nobody respected our 3-point shooters. It clogged the lane and made the offense look terrible (even worse than it really was... which is saying something).

Rubio would only add to the problem.

A major problem for people is thinking that a guy that is a great playmaker has to be a great shooter.

Wrong. Harden can do it all offensively at a elite level. The problem was the coaching only had him in mostly ISO situations.

I'm sure our players bricking open shots left and right had nothing to do with this at all.

Ending stupidity is never a poor argument and this thread is full of stupid. If you have a team full of shooters and need a playmaker to get them open shots, yeah get Rubio. When you have a team full of a brickers with a superstar who can playmake, you don't clog up spacing further with an overrated PG who can't shoot or score.

He struggles to score if the defense makes him attack the rim with his right hand and he is an average 3pt shooter. His elite skill as you call it is drawing fouls bu baiting defenders into reaching. Take off the fanboy shades. He has to run the offense and have the ball because he cant run off picks and shoot like a guy like danny green
