Maybe this game got the Rockets attention. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8J9wRE7tKkY&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8J9wRE7tKkY&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Given that the team will have to lose multiple players in any S&T for a star FA, it seems natural for them to be looking at decent FAs at anywhere up to the MLE to potentially fill in for rotation guys who may depart.
This guy was projected to be an all-star when he first came into the league. Foye has somewhat underachieved in his NBA career, mostly because of playing for poor organizations like Minnesota and Washington who don't know how to utilize his talents. IMO he would really benefit playing for a more structured team like the Rockets. He has definite talent and has a good work ethic. This would be a low risk, high potential reward signing.
This team could use a backup 2 who can play some 1. And Sergio Llllllulllll's not walking through that door (this year).
Well Martin is guaranteed to miss a nice chunk of games every year, so it would be nice to have someone to step in when that happens, as well as someone to have on the court in the 4th when Martin goes into his shell.
Foye would be a far better backup SG than Taylor. He also could serve as a third PG to Brooks and Lowry. He's within an inch of Taylor height-wise but has a bigger wingspan IIRC. Foye is quicker and better with the ball than JT, with no left-handed drive deficiencies. Also, Foye is not quite as good from long range but is a much better free throw shooter than JT (and goes to the line more often). Foye is a better defensive player too. I vote upgrade if we can.
I know Foye is a good scorer, but how is his defense? Haven't seen enough of him to gauge that. If he were to be signed to be the 3rd string PG or backup SG, he'd have to be able to play some decent defense.
Maybe that's why they're eyeing him. If Morey manages to pull off a sign-and-trade for a big name, who's to say Brooks wouldn't be a part of it? There are probably many players the team is looking at in case various scenarios unfold.
Mchale's biggest blunder as a gm next to the smith situation. It makes sense as a 3rd combo guard and someone bigger than brooks to guard 2's vs lowry. If its for a lle money that would be cool, other than that, he's not worth it. Maybe lowry is on the way out or like ch said, if they have to use players in sign and trade. The offense doesn't need a tue pg which he's not, so he would fit.
Randy Foye is on the rise. Joe Johnson is on the decline. What I'm saying is the Rockets should go after Randy rather than Joe.
