what?? he's way better than a 3rd PG or insurance for an injury-risk. Lebron would make a great 6th man too.. doesn't mean anyone could work that out.

Foye shoots the three considerably better (34.6% to Lowry's 27% last year) and is a better free throw shooter, AND turns the ball over less.

Maybe durvasa or someone can look at some advanced numbers to really get a gauge on him.

I think Foye is more of a shooting guard but would be a good backup and could still flourish in the NBA.

Well he's certainly not going to take minutes away from Martin or Brooks. He might cut into Lowry's minutes and spell Martin if he comes here, but there is not a clear cut spot in the rotation for him. I mean the guy only played 22 mpg for the freakin' Wizards last year.

Barring a trade of one of those three (which could be the reason for signing him as well - trade insurance), he's not going to get a lot of time here.

So are we going to sign him and swap him for Brandon Roy? If not then no.

Only way Morey would consider bringing in Foye is if we lose Brooks or Martin in a S&T or lose Lowry in free agency.

I agree there's not a clear spot in the rotation. I don't think he'd be willing to sign as insurance. A trade has to happen or be imminent, and then he'd sign on as the replacement.

I thought you were implying he'd be willing sign as a 3rd PG and 10th man here...and I don't think that's the case

While I'm not so sure about the legitimacy of all this, I actually wouldn't mind getting Foye.

With the Hinrich acquisition, the Wizards will likely just part ways with Foye (a shame, really, since he was the key piece to them trading away the #5 pick last year). Of course, if Washington wants to do a sign-and-trade, that might be a possibility, although I'd prefer not to have to give up any assets in exchange for Foye.

Anyone who is comparing Foye to Lowry hasn't seen Foye play. They are very little alike, other than that both played together at Villanova. Foye is a scoring combo guard. He would actually be a great fit as the third or fourth guard in the rotation, also able to play PG for extended minutes if there is an injury to Brooks or Lowry.

If he doesn't cost too much (portion of the MLE), I say sign him up!

He was a stud at Nova, and even drew some comparisons to Iverson when he was coming out of school. He'll probably come cheap since Washington isn't extending a qualifying offer.

    Has this been confirmed?

That actually surprised me a little bit. The qualifying offer on Randy Foye is for less than $4.8M. The Wizards likely aren't going to make a splash in free agency. While if I were the Rockets I'd try to get Randy for less than $4.8M, it is not a ridiculous amount for his production. But I suppose that with Wall, Arenas and Hinrich, the Wiz didn't want to commit that much to their fourth guard.

Get 'er done, Morey! Preferably splitting the MLE between him and a guy like Brad Miller.

lol. Well he'd definitely be better than Maurice Ager.

I dont think there is "great" interest. Only maybe a phone call. And he's getting let go since John Wall is coming to town. I see him as sign and trade replenishment at most.

This will be his fifth season and he's shown pretty much no improvement. Not a good play maker, not a good defender, and a tweener to boot.

He does have above average quickness and a decent shot, but he also barely ever gets to the free throw line. I would pass unless we're talking a dirt cheap 1 to 2 year contract.

Edit...not to mention very injury prone.

Wouldn't be bad to have a backup for Martin. Taylor has potential, but would go with the known quantity,

Foye is a tough combo guard (6'4 220 lbs) that would be great for this team. He would fill the scoring void at guard with the 2nd unit. He can shoot it and attacks the rim consistently.

I see a lot of you saying only in a trade or whatever, but this could be the same situation we saw when Morey signed Francis and we had 4 pgs coming into camp to battle it out. Sometimes these things work themselves out in camp. I trust what Morey is doing. Can never have enough quality guards on your team.

    Hill and Budinger
    Patterson and Hayes
    Lowry and Foye(potentially)

It's obvious Morey is looking to expand the Rockets fanbase into certain colleges.

Wasn't the Rockets interest in Foye only as a trade piece, ie to swap him for Roy?

This. I'm not saying Taylor isn't going to make it, but he hasn't gotten there yet. To me, that he can play PG is less important than that he can back up Martin.

Yeah, looks like Washington is not going to pick up the qualifying offer on Foye. Rockets should be interested in him. Could be a nice backup scoring guard.

I think when Foye was in the draft the Rockets did have an interest in him.
