you misunderstood what the previous poster tried to say. he was not comparing yao to dream. he complained about the treatment.
This is the most likely senario...which would leave us sitting around with our d!kcs in our hands wondering what are we going to do now. We get no value from Yao leaving and we've sacrificed so much while trying to accommodate Yao and all his demands. I hope getting blown out of the olympics and dominating the "high profile" Asian games was worth it...
Why would this team trade Yao? He is the only untouchable player on the team. If that's not clear by now, you haven't been following the Rockets. It's unfortunate he's injured and it was tough last year not watching him play. They have built this team around and with him in mind and you want to trade him now? And what will you get back? He has a $17 million contract. You will not get $17 million of any good players back and certainly not an all star or near all star back. If LA offers their offend injured center, would the Rockets do it? No way, that would make a 3-peat a guaranteed for them. OK, not the Lakers then. What other team will give you any center back in return? It's a center for center trade. You are trading away your best center so it must be a center coming back; unless Miller as the starter is better for the team, NOT. And don't automatically assume Yao will be injuryed again. Anyone can be injuryed playing. Besides, sounds like he is lighter and with the years rest, he should be fresh. I am hoping to see a great season from the team. Let's hope this is a great year and the will get the the WCF and beyond!
His stocks maybe dropping, but he is still Les cash cow. I think Yao's value is beyond the basketball court. I will be surprise if Les agree to trade him. In my honest opinion, I think Yao will retire as a Rocket.
You're supposed to BUY LOW, SELL HIGH. Yes, there is a chance that Yao won't come back full strength, but his stock is at an all-time low. No way you trade him now (unless you find a sucker). If you were any other team, would you give up the sun moon and stars for Yao?
What must be avoided at all costs, is for Les to get sentimental (and/or greedy) and offer a long term max contract BEFORE training camp. That would be a disaster for the team... for years to come.
As big a fan that I am of Yao, I absolutely hate hearing EVEN without Yao we are a solid team, I don't care. We are now trained to actually expect to play without our most payed and most skilled player, as if we can't wait to see how the team does without him. The answer is 42-40 congratulations houston, we suck. I don't wanna hear that we were over 50% bull, we didn't make the playoffs. We waited for tracy year after year (ignoring all of the injuries) still hoping and believing and he went down, and now we are about to do the same thing with Yao. If Yao believes in himself than we should stand by him 100%, but if that article is true and he is saying that we have to live without him, then we need to listen. Like someone said this is a business and we need to recognize that we have some very strong role players, all we need is a superstar. If Yao truly believes his career his over he needs to tell Morey and Morey should then trade him so we can all move on.
Can we really believe that article that was translated from the Chinese version to be 100% accurate of what Yao really believe? Mind you, it is Chinese to English. Just wonder, did they use Babel to translate?
You know if this statement is repeated every year the Rockets have Yao, as it has been up to now, eventually it will be true. I think there was a time people said that about Hakeem. Someone with a better memory help me, wasn't that back in '92, or so?
Read the article on Yahoo where it rightly states yao is done for.I've been saying we should be entertaining trade offers for him. In 2 years he will be nothing more then a backyp like what McGrady is now.
LOL, I dunno man. I hope it's not true, but the truth is this isn't the first time I've heard something about him saying he won't be back to his old self. I hope it's just rumors, but if it's true we need to start makin some tough decisions because we are not getting out of the first round without a healthy Yao and we are surely not gonna beat the Lakers or Miami without the big fella. This reminds me of 2008 offseason when Tracy kept saying he ain't ready. But for some reason everyone thought "he's gonna comeback and we will win it all'. That didn't turn out so well and if we had traded him before then we would've gotten alot for more him.
Big Z was alot younger then Yao when he had his surgery with alot less mileage. This crap that Yao can recover like big Z is comical. One was like 24 and yao is 30.Yao will at best be a backup in 2 years time.
